What's Good PPSD Family! Board Leadership is sharing a Community Update regarding where we are in our Goals + Guardrails process. As a reminder, the Community Listening Sessions that we held this summer were curated so we could understand what community believes students should know or be able to do by the time they leave PPSD. The feedback that was collected was used to formulate our draft Goals + Guardrails (G+G), two companion pieces that will form the bedrock of the District's 5 year strategic plan. Please read this Community Update to learn more about this process and how to get or stay involved. We have a meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, December 17th @ 6PM 797 Westminster Street in Providence. If you have any comments or questions related to the content of the G+G, please sign up for Public Comment by emailing [email protected] at least 24 hours in advanced. We will try our hardest to get everyone who wants to speak on the mic. You can also fill out our survey. We will link it in the comments. Thank you!

Afer 19 Community Listening Sessions, we heard you loud and clear. You want schools that support students to thrive in life, work and active citizenship. To do that, we need to focus on the basics of literacy and numeracy as well as social emotional learning and career and technical education. Please review the School Board’s draft Goals + Guardrails and share your feedback on November 19th, at our next meeting. You can also add your feedback via our survey which is live now (in comments below). Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to hearing from you! 🖤✨

Our Session at West End Rec was founded on passion, eagerness and a willingness to stand up for what students and families need and deserve. We heard loud and clear advocacy for access to the trades and equipping counselors with knowledge so they how to help students figure out “What’s Next”- especially those coming out of High School. Big shout out to our community host for sharing opening remarks and pushing PPSD to take a strong hard look at how we are preparing students for jobs of the future. This session was deep and look forward to continuing our work with the people who showed up and showed out for the West End! Nice to see our Intruders family too! 🧡🖤🧡 Omg and thank you to Carolina’s for the food. Really enjoyed and appreciated!

Community education and access to information is super important to this School Board. At all of our Community Listening Sessions, we make sure people have access to the words and terms that are used frequently our in discussions. Check out these cute lil flashcards to learn/relearn key vocabulary you will hear in our conversations. Are there other words we should add? Let us know! 🖤✨

Our youth leaders, Julianna and Milia, cooked today leading our session at Zucculo Rec Center! People came and felt seen, heard, and at home with community! The intimate nature of break out groups helped them feel really good about their feedback being taken and listened to fully. Number 13 in the bag, 3 more to go this week and a final one in Sept! Shout out to D’s Spot for providing the food!
