Seeing with Your Heart

For four days, the Lion’s Gate stood open.
And we walked through it together.

We came carrying stories, patterns, and weight handed down through generations.

We opened our hearts in circle. We listened to what our bodies, and our ancestors, had been waiting to say. We translated messages felt in symptoms, challenges, and desires.

We remembered joy.
We let ourselves receive.

And we turned toward those who came before us, honored unfinished stories, and opened to the life they passed forward.

We lifted what was heavy.
And we offered it upward—back to the light, back to higher ground—so it no longer had to live in our bodies.

To receive life fully is an act of love.

Four days of remembering.
Remembering who we are.
Remembering what belongs to us.
Remembering what is ready to end.
Remembering the life waiting for us to say yes.

Thank you to every soul who stepped into the circle.
Every heart that opened.
Every intention seeded.

It rises. It transforms. It continues on higher ground.
And what was planted will keep growing.
See with your heart.

Remember the wholeness you carried before the world taught you to make it smaller. Remember the knowing that still hums underneath all the noise.
Remember that you were never as alone as it sometimes felt, that a whole lineage stands behind you, breathing you forward.

You don’t have to earn your way back to yourself. The door is already open. You only have to walk through what was always yours.

Today the gate is open. So is the part of you that never left.

Being there at the end of someone's life is one of the most sacred things we can do for another person — and none of us are ever fully ready for it.

We don't always know how to help someone leave without fear, without regret. But we show up anyway. We hold the hand. We love their heart. We sit by the fire. We stay as long as there's breath.

This is that work. This is why we do it. 🕯️

They have never met your father. They know nothing about your family. They have no background, no history, no information.

You ask them to stand in your father's place.

A few minutes later, they begin speaking with his cadence. Their posture changes. Their emotional state shifts. They describe feelings and impulses that closely match someone they have never known.

This surprised even Virginia Satir, one of my favorite teachers for psychotherapy.

While developing her family therapy work, Satir often invited assistants and group members to represent members of a client's family. At first, these people were there to help recreate the family structure. Over time, something unexpected began to happen.

The representatives started experiencing emotions, physical sensations, impulses, and patterns of communication that reflected the family members they were representing.

They were not acting. Again and again, they expressed qualities, language, and relational dynamics that the client recognized immediately.

Satir became deeply curious about this phenomenon. She did not claim to fully understand it. She observed it. She trusted what repeatedly unfolded in front of her.

Years later, Bert Hellinger would build upon these observations through Systemic Family Constellations, where this phenomenon became known as representative perception.

Science and mystery are building an explanation for how it works, but we can't understand it fully.

We only know it happens - across cultures, across languages, across thousands of constellations.

Some experiences ask us to think.
Others ask us to see with our heart.

Most people think the patterns they can’t break are personal. But a lot of what you carry- the grief, the numbness, the joy just out of reach- belongs to a generation before you.

The moment you understand that, everything changes. Because what was passed down can also be returned.

Long before science had the language, the constellation field showed us something the mind couldn't dismiss: that trauma travels. It lives in the body, in the cells, in the patterns handed down a family line. For years, that idea was called laughable. Today, it's backed by research and funding.

Epigenetic science is finally saying what the ancestors always knew: what you carry didn't begin with you, and it doesn't have to end with you. The entanglement can be freed. The living and the dead, released from the same bind.

Constellations were ahead of the curve.
The science is beginning to develop the skill and awareness to explain the mysteries felt by the heart.

Every year, around August 8, I take space to step through the portal of intimate ritual. The ancient Egyptians watched the rising of the star Sirius as a sacred marker of renewal. Astrologically, Lion's Gate occurs as the Sun journeys through Leo and Sirius makes its annual pre-dawn appearance in the Northern Hemisphere, a seasonal alignment that many spiritual traditions honor as a time to bring your inner world into alignment with your deepest intentions, your life force, and the future you are ready to create.

Manifestation isn't about thinking positive. It isn't about asking the Universe for more. The Universe responds to coherence, to those that show up exactly as they were designed - magnificent, finely attuned, bold, brilliant stars in human bodies.

It responds when your body, your heart, your ancestry, your actions, and your deepest intention begin moving in the same direction. This is why I love Lion's Gate. It gives us a moment to pause and ask.. Where is my life force tied up in old loyalties? What future am I trying to create while standing inside an unfinished past?

Manifestation begins long before something arrives in your external world. It begins the moment your inner world comes into alignment. Lion's Gate is an invitation to create from that place. From a heart that remembers why it came here.

This year, the Lion's Gate feels even more meaningful. We have been invited to hold this retreat on Salt Spring Island by two people who embody this work.

Years ago, Zsoka Scurtescu and her husband, Marius, joined us as students. They immersed themselves in the work. They followed what they knew in their hearts. Together, they manifested their dream home, created a beautiful healing space, and now serve their own community with deep integrity and love.

This gathering is a celebration of what becomes possible when healing turns into embodied action, when students become teachers, and when one family's transformation creates space for many others to heal.
