Prepared to assist the Rhode Island Department of Health, these students are gaining hands-on experience while helping strengthen the state's public health response when it matters most.

Brown students train to support Rhode Island during disease outbreaks As concerns about infectious disease outbreaks continue to shape public health planning, a group of Brown University public health students stands ready to support Rhode Island health officials in case an outbreak or other emergency stretches the state’s workforce.

Advancing responsible AI in education 📚💡🧠

For her Urban Education Policy capstone, Liz Pelletier ’26 UEP explored how communities can shape thoughtful approaches to artificial intelligence in schools.

Her project, “AI and Public Good: Crafting Policy through Collective Stakeholder Input,” developed an AI policy framework for the Central Falls School District, emphasizing equity, collaboration and responsible implementation.

Recent Brown University alumni, current graduate students earn 39 Fulbright scholarships This year’s 39 Fulbright awardees will begin teaching and research assignments in 24 countries across five continents in Fall 2026.

What happens when AI researchers learn how policy is made?

The Watson School of International and Public Affairs at Brown University at Brown University and the Center for Technological Responsibility, Reimagination and Redesign (CNTR) brought together 20 graduate students from across the country for the AI Policy Summer School.

Through expert-led seminars in Providence and meetings with lawmakers and federal agencies in Washington, D.C., participants explored the intersection of artificial intelligence and public policy.

The program is designed to prepare the next generation of leaders to help shape responsible AI governance and conduct impactful research at the intersection of technology and policymaking.
