I want to thank a few of our amazing, local companies who are providing the opportunity for employment and volunteering of our students who have, or currently are in the YTP program: Ericksons Thriftway, Humane Society of the Ochocos, Rite Aid, Castle Tire, and SMAF! I know there are many other companies who have employed our hard-working students, and I hope to get around to introduce myself this year.

Talk about a talented workforce! Rose started working at SMAF Construction doing errands and helping clean the trucks. She found this with the help of Transition staff as a part time temporary placement. At the end of her time there, the supervisor wanted to make it a permanent position and offered her a job. She is a Valued employee because of her dependability, punctuality, and hard work. She has saved money to get her ODL and buy a pickup truck. She is learning new skills around the shop; driving the skid steer, working on forklift certification. In addition to these new skills she is also a talented welder. I cannot believe we are almost at the end of another school year. What are your plans for this summer? Is anyone needing extra help around their shop? Maybe an extra person to straighten clothes, stock shelves, or even help customers? I have some great, ready-to-work students eager to spend their summer learning new skills.
