Unhealthy Parental Behavior (UPB) are patterns of harmful actions and emotions towards the child(ren) from the parent that is detrimental to children’s healthy development. These behavior patterns can be a consistency of:
• aggressive yelling at the children;
• expressing aggressive anger towards the children or in the presence of children where they can see you;
• causing the children to f
ear you through bullying;
• forcing the children to respect you through oppressing your dominance of size and strength;
• hitting and breaking items through anger or frustration in front of the children;
• publicly shaming the children through parental discipline;
• blaming the children for one’s own faults or blaming and shaming the children for your own behavior patterns of being frustrated and stressed; and
• expressing ill-will towards the other parent in front of the children. UPB patterns usually vary in severity and often makes it hard for children to interact socially and playfully with their siblings and other children throughout their daily activities. UPB is severe to children’s brain development that causes damage to the function of the brain leaving mental and emotional behavioral problems that intern harms the children’s healthy development.
