Youth Film Program

The Prescott Youth Film Program is thrilled to announce our SUMMER FILM PROGRAM! Starting June 15th, we are offering TWO EXCITING SESSIONS where students ages 9–17 will create, shoot, edit, and star in original film projects! Students will get experience in producing, directing, cinematography, lighting, acting for film, and post-production, ending in a Special Showcase Screening for the Quad City community!

Spring Break was full of filmmaking action at the Youth Film Program From haunted houses, to spaceships, to supernatural parties, chess tournaments, and alien cantinas...these young filmmakers are hard at work creating some spectacular scenes.

Thank you to our "grown-up" actors/filmmakers for lending their time and talents these last weeks. We also thank our hosts at the Hazeltine Theater in downtown for letting the our program film several scenes at this historic landmark!

We are officially "In Production" on six exciting Films! These young filmmakers are taking everything they learned and imagined these first six weeks, and are bringing it to life on camera! It's an exciting time, and we can't wait to show the area what these talented youth are creating in May!

The Friday class started with the announcement of our next round of greenlit films! We got to work straight away on their scripts, before launching into preproduction: Shooting green screen zero-gravity VFX tests, interviews of some "supernatural creatures", and brining to life two rogue cartoon characters powered by our actor's performances!

On Tuesday, we announced the first round of films to be Greenlit for the new season! Our Filmmaker’s got to work writing their scripts and began test-shooting scenes to see how we will accomplish the visual effects and shooting styles of these first films! We can’t wait to announce the other group of Films on Friday!

This week, our filmmakers had their first experience using lighting to create cinematic images. Our students conducted multi-camera interviews and presented their film pitches while also getting their first experience editing their practice scenes using DaVinci Resolve!
We heard some incredible and creative ideas, and we can’t wait to announce the first round of films moving into production and begin the scriptwriting in week three!

We had an exciting FIRST week for our TUESDAY and FRIDAY groups! After orientation, and a tour of the studio, The Youth Film Program filmmakers went straight to work, shooting their first "Practice Scenes". Filming these short scenes gave our filmmakers their first experience using professional cinema gear, learning how to plan out a scene, and the skills of acting on camera!
