Guided fly fishing trips are for everyone! They are dedicated to giving you a day you won't forget.

Gray Goat Fly Fishing focuses on all aspects of fly fishing: Guiding, fly tying and casting schools, presentations and fly fishing products like Bentley's Balls strike indicators, custom flies and fly tying materials. Whether you are an experienced angler or have never thrown a fly, a guided trip is an experience rich with adventure. The chance to catch a wild trout, wander the woodland trails, an

d regain your sanity all in the same day is worth its weight in gold. Each day on the water is shaped by Mother Nature and tests one's ability to solve the code of the wily trout. At Gray Goat our guides are connected to their work by more than just a hook and line. Our guides are a group of avid outdoor professionals who understand the rhythms of the earth. New access spots, new techniques, or just responding more intuitively to the stimuli surrounding the stream and its inhabitants are just a fraction of what you can gain from one of our guided trips. No one knows it all and in this pastime old dogs can learn new tricks.

My first outing of 2022 was on a Thursday in January. The cold temps and wind had been sucked or blown to some other latitude. My locality was to reach 33 degrees with calm winds. Perfectly acceptable conditions to sneak away into the snowy woodlands and escape the shack nasties.

Today I went and saw for myself. I had heard about the news. Draw down of Lake Louise on the Kinni. Yes this is the lake above the lower river, the canyon. June flood had damaged dam and examination of the dam was necessary in order to understand what the next steps should be. Draw down began in early October. It appears tons of silt entered the lower river at or just before the brown trout spawning period. "Danger" signs have been posted warning of heavy mud at the base of the Dam. I am told that the water is chocolate milk colored, still, at the County Road F.bridge. Some in the conservation community say that this could be a major catastrophe for the lower river. Here is some drone footage of what once was a lake, Lake Louise.. The river has cut its new channel through the silt of the lake bed. This one you have got to see for yourself.
