Training rescheduled due to snow day!

Update- for Wednesday, April 10, Please READ Carefully

Hello PVCS Families,

Due to last week’s snow days, PVCS and PVPD had to rescheduled the planned training for an alternate date!

The new date is Wednesday, April 10.

PVCS will NOT be providing afternoon bus service nor aftercare due to a very important staff training.

Our whole staff will be attending training with the Prescott Valley Police Department specific to our campus to ensure we are up to date on the latest protocols in the event of a threat on our campus (active shooter, or otherwise).

Parents will need to pick up ALL students at 1:15pm on 4/10/24. This is also an early release day. If you would like to call in an absence on this day for your child it will be considered excused as we know many families heavily rely on transportation and aftercare because they work.

If you are not able to pick up your child at 1:15pm, please do not send them to school. It is imperative that all students are picked up timely so that ALL staff can participate in this training to ensure all children are safe in the event of a threat on campus.

Given the GREAT importance of this training we thank you for your support.

Update for 2/9/2024

PVCS will be on a snow day tomorrow, 2/9/24.

Due to snow accumulations in the quad city areas, some of which are as high as 18 inches, and the additional snow that fell within the last hour, PVCS will be closed tomorrow.

We considered a 2-hour delay, but temps will be at or below freezing until at least 11am, which means icy roads are likely until after 11am. We know everyone has a different commute and varied driving experience, all which was taken into consideration in this decision. These decisions are never easy, but we want to give our families the ability to plan ahead and not have to make rushed decisions in the morning!

Therefore, we are calling a snow day for tomorrow as of this evening.

Please be safe out there if you must go out and we will see you bright and early on Monday!

Update: 7:35 am 2/8/2024

Dear PVCS families,

Due to the forecast of snow until later today and the snow currently coming down in parts of town already, PVCS will have a SNOW DAY today, 2/8/24.

While we could probably get to school safely around 10 AM, the afternoon is unpredictable at this time, therefore, it is best that we don't risk it with buses or ask our families to either. We will try again tomorrow! Stay safe out there!

****PVCS WEATHER MESSAGE FOR THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 8****

Good evening PVCS families,

Most roads in town are clear, but some areas are still quite wet. With temperatures expected to be at or below freezing tonight and tomorrow, ice will be present on roads. PVCS will start the day with a 2-hour delay tomorrow, 2/8/24. This will also give us additional time to also monitor weather forecasts.

Current predictions show a second significant storm, with 4.5 inches of snow possible during the school day tomorrow! If that forecast holds overnight, it will likely not be safe for buses or for our families to drive. Unless the storm misses us, significant snow is forecasted to begin by 7:00 a.m., and the chances are quite high for another SNOW DAY tomorrow!
A two-hour delay tomorrow will give us more time to monitor the storm in the early morning hours when it is still dark.

Look for an updated email to families in the morning, as well as an updated posting on the PVCS website and on Facebook.

Update: 7:04am

Due to considerable amounts of snow in the quad cities area, PVCS will be a SNOW DAY today, 2/7/24. We are hearing reports of power outages as well so it is just best that everyone stay home! If you do have to go out today, be safe out there!

UPDATE: 2/7/2024

PVCS will be on a 2-hour delay Wednesday, February 7, 2024.

All schedules will run exactly 2 hours later than normal. A 6:35 bus pickup time will become an 8:35 pickup. Before care will be closed and there will be no breakfast service. Arrival for students will begin at 10am with the line up bell ringing at 10:25, and instruction will begin promptly at 10:30.

Please remember Wednesday is also an early release day and ALL students must be picked up by 1:15pm due to our afternoon staff training (flyers and emails reminders have been going home for the last two weeks). No buses will be running Wednesday afternoon and after care will be closed. If you are unable to pick up your child at 1:15 pm please call in to excuse the absence.

As always, we know everyone has a different commute to school and we encourage families to always make their own decisions on whether it's safe to travel or not. PVCS will always excuse weather related absences to ensure everyone is safe!

If the storm happens to get worse overnight there is a chance this decision could be upgraded to a school closure. Please check back for an update to be posted by 7:30am.

Thank you.
