We’re thrilled to welcome Jackie Fischer back to Fall Kill!
Jackie creates playful, whimsical sculptures often infused with tongue-in-cheek dark humor. Her work explores the unexpected, blending humor, curiosity, and a love for the handmade.
Jackie studied ceramics, sculpture, and psychology at Alfred University. She currently teaches ceramic sculpture and runs Mud & Metal Studios, where she handcrafts sterling silver jewelry and ceramic décor from her studio in the Catskill Mountains.
Throughout her career, Jackie has received scholarships from Peters Valley School of Craft, Pocosin School of Art, Anderson Ranch Art Center, and Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. She has also participated in residencies at Salem Art Works, Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts, Chesterwood, and Berkshire Art Center, with an upcoming residency at Women’s Studio.
We’re so excited to have her back at Fall Kill for a class that feels especially suited to her playful approach to making. Handbuilt Candelabras & Centerpieces invites you to create one-of-a-kind ceramic pieces for the table: candelabras, luminaries, sculptural centerpieces, or even a menorah! You’ll explore expressive handbuilding, texture, and surface decoration with plenty of room to make something entirely your own.
