Our first short week back is in the books! 🌿

It was a week full of big smiles, happy reunions, new faces, new experiences, and the beginnings of new routines.

We’re reminded once again that a school isn’t really the building—it’s the people inside it. These kids, with their questions, care, creativity, curiosity, and wonderfully different ways of seeing the world, are what make Trout & Heron so special.

They bring the ideas, the laughter, the wonder, and the heart.

They are the school. 💛

And they inspire us, as teachers, to keep learning and growing right alongside them.

Welcome back to Trout & Heron! 🌿

Our first day was a busy one—reconnecting with familiar faces, welcoming our newest little learners (our Kinders!), building new routines, and beginning to find a joyful rhythm to our days.

Today, we talked about what really makes a school a special place. A building, no matter how plain or beautiful, is still just a building. It’s the people who bring it to life. It’s the students, teachers, and families learning, caring, contributing, and growing together who make it a happy place to belong.

This year, Trout & Heron is Kindergarten through Grade 4… and growing! 🌱

As we begin another year in our little multi-age schoolhouse, we’re looking forward to muddy boots and good books, big questions and new discoveries, creativity, kindness, friendship, and plenty of adventures along the way.

Today we started building our routines. Over the days and months ahead, we get to build something even more important together—a community where everyone has a place and something to contribute. 💛

We can’t wait to see what we create together this year.

The seeds we planted together in the spring are now in full bloom, awaiting the return of our students in just a few short weeks. 🌻🌱

Behind the scenes, it’s been a nonstop summer of planning, organizing, building upgrades, and preparing for a wonderful year ahead.

New books, new materials, new learning opportunities, and the very best team to help our students learn, explore, grow, and reach for the sky.

We can’t wait to welcome everyone back to Trout & Heron. Until then, we hope the remaining weeks of summer are filled with small wonders, outdoor adventures, and plenty of time to simply enjoy the season. 💛

And that's a wrap! 🎉🍋🎓

What a wonderful way to celebrate an incredible school year! Our Moving Up Ceremony and Kindergarten Graduation were filled with smiles, laughter, music, and memories we'll cherish for years to come.

From the children's lemonade stand and graduation songs to a delicious community potluck and BBQ, it was the perfect way to celebrate a year of learning, growth, and friendship.

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing families for your support, kindness, and for making Trout & Heron such a special community. We are so proud of each and every one of our students and can't wait to see what adventures await next year.

Happy last day of school! As we close the chapter on the 2025–2026 school year, our hearts are full of gratitude.

This year has been filled with meaningful learning, lasting friendships, new discoveries, and memories we'll cherish for years to come.

Tomorrow is our last day of school for the 2025–2026 school year, and what a year it has been.

As we begin looking back, we're filled with gratitude for the many moments of learning, growth, discovery, and connection that made this year so special.

Together, we explored forests and fields, cared for gardens and animals, created art, wrote stories, solved problems, conducted experiments, sang songs, built friendships, and learned from one another every day.

We welcomed special guests, visited community partners, celebrated accomplishments, embraced challenges, and watched our students grow in confidence, independence, curiosity, and kindness.

From everyday moments in our one-room schoolhouse to unforgettable field trips, projects, and celebrations, this year has been filled with meaningful experiences that remind us what learning can be.

Over the next few days, we'll be sharing some of our favorite memories from the year. Thank you to our students, families, teachers, and community partners for being part of this journey.
