At the end of June, we had the incredible opportunity to host an Irish dance workshop for Studio One Dance and Acrobatic Center students, who traveled all the way from Millinocket, Maine! Our president, Scotty Downs who taught and organized this opportunity, had the pleasure of teaching such an amazing group of kids, full of energy, great spirit, and excitement to try something new like Irish step dancing. Irish dancing is a challenging style to learn, so seeing them pick it up in just a 90-minute class was especially impressive. Irish dance is all about creating a community filled with fun and laughter, and we had an absolute blast sharing that experience with them. We can’t wait for the chance to go up north and teach these fun, talented kids again!

A huge shoutout to The Salt Flat Dance Collaborative for generously allowing us to use their beautiful studio space to host this workshop. We truly appreciate your support and hospitality!

We did it! The first ever Irish Dance Company to dance in the Portland Pride Parade!🏳️‍🌈 We had an absolute blast and the crowd loved to see us break out in step!! Thank you to everyone who helped and danced on this amazing day, it was truly one for the books. Video of our parade fun coming soon 💚💚☘️☘️

A couple of weeks ago, the Fife Irish Dancers had the pleasure of participating in South Portland Middle School’s World Culture Day!

Scotty and Rose spent the day teaching students in grades 5–8 some fun céilí dances and even let each class choose a song for the dance they learned. Every session was filled with laughter, energy, and so much joy—it was an absolute blast!

Recently, we received these thoughtful thank-you letters from the students in the mail, which truly made our day. Thank you to South Portland Middle School for having us back for a second year in a row. We can’t wait to dance with you again!

We had the incredible opportunity to perform alongside the amazingly talented Portland artist Don Campbell Music at the shipyard brewery and it was truly something special. Being able to share the stage with someone so well known and respected in the local Southern Maine music community is something we don’t take lightly.

Moments like this remind us why we do what we do—bringing people together through music, movement, and a shared love of culture. ☘️ 💚

🍀 What an incredible time we had performing at the beautiful Chocolate Church Arts Center in Bath, alongside the amazing Boxty Irish Band!

The energy from the crowd was fantastic, and sharing the stage with such talented musicians made the night truly special. There’s nothing better than live Irish music and dancing coming together to fill a room with rhythm, tradition, and a whole lot of fun.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support live Irish culture—we loved every minute of it! ☘️💃

The Chocolate Church Arts Center is a community-centered visual and performing arts center serving midcoast Maine for more than 40 years. The Chocolate Church Arts Center offers a rich program of live music and theatre performances, music education, and Art Lab programs for all ages.
