READ THESE IN YOUR OWN VOICE, STEPMOM. 👇

Every line in this reel came from a real stepmom. The DMs, the comments, the 2am messages I've gotten from thousands of women doing this role.

And here's the pattern that breaks my heart a little:
they all say these things to ME. A stranger on the internet.

Because I'm the only room they've found where the sentences are allowed.
Not at dinner. Not with their friends who "don't get it."
Not even in their own kitchen.

You're not broken for thinking these things.
The thoughts come out of a role that hands you responsibility, withholds a title,
and then asks you to smile about it.

And I bet every stepmom reading this has at least three of these lines living rent-free in her head.

So this September, I'm doing something about the room problem.
This year's Stepmom Summit is called Out Loud:
Five days.
30+ experts who actually study stepfamilies.
Thousands of stepmoms.
Every one of these sentences finally said at full volume.

It's free, and the waitlist gets first access to everything.

💬 Just comment SUMMIT below and I'll DM you the waitlist link. (Just make sure you're following first so you can actually receive my message!)

💫 Send this to the stepmom who's thought any of these. You're not alone.

IT ENDS IN SEPTEMBER, STEPMOM👇

Where's your spot?
The hallway before the kitchen. Or the car in the driveway before you come inside.
The place where you catch your reflection or just feel your face shifting,
and you put on the version of you that's easier for everyone.

Composed. Grateful. FINE.

You do it for the kids, for your partner's family,
for the pickup line, for the comment section.

Your face now runs the routine automatically.
And underneath it, resentment keeps building where nobody can see.

It's what happens when you're subject to all the scrutiny of motherhood with none of the safety.

You perform because it's felt like the only option.

This September, I'm giving you a different one.

The Stepmom Summit is back for its sixth year, and this year it's called Out Loud.
Five days.
Thirty experts who actually study stepfamilies.
Thousands of stepmoms in the same room, all done performing.
Every session live, and your seat is free.

Find your voice. Take your place. No apologies.

The waitlist gets first access to everything, including doors that open a full day before everyone else's.

💬 Just comment SUMMIT below and I'll DM you the waitlist link. (Just make sure you're following first so you can actually receive my message!)

💫 Send this to the stepmom you've caught rearranging her face when no one's looking.

THE ROOM WHERE STEPMOMS STOP WHISPERING👇

This week I've been here naming what the stepmom role collects from you.
The tracking nobody assigned. The calendar you don't control. All the work you do that builds a version of you that's been slowly eroding from where you started.

The posts this week? Thousands of stepmoms read every word, saved them, and felt seen.

And almost none said one word about them out loud. Not to anyone.

That's not a you problem. That's the whole design flaw of this role.
You aren't missing the language anymore. You don't have a room that feels like the language is allowed.

So I built one.
This year's Stepmom Summit theme is Out Loud because that's the entire point:
👉 Five days in September (Sept. 14-18)
👉 30+ of the top experts in the world who actually study stepfamilies
👉 Thousands of stepmoms saying the quiet parts out loud. In a room built to hear them.

It's free. The waitlist is open now, and the people on it get first access to everything.

💬 Just comment SUMMIT below and I'll DM you the waitlist link. (Just make sure you're following first so you can actually receive my message!)

THE STEPMOM RULEBOOK YOU NEVER AGREED TO👇

Every time I name part of the stepmom tax, the same comment shows up: "so what, moms do all of this too. You knew what you signed up for"

They're partly right. The dentist dates, the invisible labor, the exhaustion. The work is similar.

What's different is the rulebook that comes with it.
A mom who vents is a tired mom. A stepmom who vents is keeping score.

A mom who drops a ball had a busy week. A stepmom who drops one audits herself at 2am.

Same work. Different rules. That's the stepmom tax.

Swipe for all the examples, and keep this handy for the next time someone says it's the same.

The final part of the stepmom tax series drops tomorrow, and it's the one that costs the most. Follow so you don't miss it.

💫 Save this for the next "so what, moms do that too" comment.

THE STEPMOM DISAPPEARING ACT 👇

The last part of the stepmom tax isn't a task.

It's the gym slot that dissolved into pickup duty.
The Sunday coffee that became re-entry management.
The show you used to watch, the friend you used to call, the version of your eveningS that belonged to you.

It didn't disappear dramatically. It eroded one schedule shift at a time, so gradually you never registered it leaving.

I call it the "un-noticing."
And it's maybe the worst part of the stepmom tax, because what it costs you is YOU.

You can't opt out of the stepmom role, and most of what it asks can't be refunded.
But there is a difference between paying what the role genuinely requires and overpaying out of guilt, habit, and the absence of anyone telling you that you're allowed to stop.

Stopping the overpayment is a language problem.
It's the conversation with your partner about the load they've never seen itemized.
The boundary that gives you your Sunday back.
The sentence that writes your name back in your own calendar.

That's the last piece of the stepmom tax.

THE STEPMOM PERMISSION SLIP👇

Let's get something out of the way first: invisible labor is every mom's story. The snack that's just there. The uniform that's just clean. The form that's just signed. If you posted about it, half the moms on the internet would nod along.

But the stepmom version comes with a rule:
A mom can stand in her kitchen and say "I do everything around here," and the world calls it venting.
You say the same sentence about kids the world keeps reminding you aren't yours, and suddenly you're keeping score.

Competing with their mother.
Making it about you.

So you don't say it.
You do mom-level work under a gag order, and the exhaustion piles up in a place you're not allowed to point to.

And when something finally slips... the one forgotten form or unpacked lunch... nobody has to say a word, because you're already saying it to yourself at 11pm.
Wondering if one dropped ball undoes a hundred invisible catches.

It's the stepmom tax again, collecting in a currency nobody counts: everything you're not allowed to say.

I'm not telling you to stop doing the work.
But naming this out loud can help you fix it. That's what this series is for.

The final cost drops tomorrow, and it's the one that made me build this series in the first place.

Follow so you don't miss Part 4.
💫 And share this with someone who's never seen what you carry.

YOUR TIME ISN'T FULLY YOURS, STEPMOM. AND YOU KNOW IT. 👇

Try planning a vacation. Try planning a weekend. Try planning a Tuesday. Every plan routes through a rotation you didn't design and can't amend, and somewhere along the way you stopped noticing how strange that is.

This isn't about resenting the schedule or anyone in it. Custody rotations exist for good reasons, and kids need the stability they provide. It's about naming what it costs you to live inside one: the spontaneity surrendered, the holidays split by decree, the constant translation between "our time" and "the time we're allotted."

That's the second cost. It counts, even though nobody caused it. Especially because nobody caused it, actually, since a cost with no villain is the exact kind you end up paying alone and in silence.

Parts 3 and 4 finish the list. Follow so you don't miss them.

💫 Save this if your calendar just felt seen.

IF INTIMACY FEELS LIKE 1 MORE THING YOU HAVE TO DO… this might explain why.

When you’re carrying resentment, parenting stress, emotional exhaustion, or feeling unsupported by your partner, it doesn’t magically disappear when you get into bed.

For stepmoms especially, there can be SO much happening outside the bedroom that impacts how connected you feel inside it.

Sometimes the intimacy problem isn’t really about s*x at all. 🫣
And that’s a conversation more couples need to have. ❤️

MOM-LEVEL DUTY. STEPMOM-LEVEL STANDING👇

Somewhere along the way, you became the keeper of the dentist dates. The shoe sizes and field trip forms.

The moods on switch days and the emotional temperature of a house you didn't build.

Nobody assigned any of it to you.
It just accrued, one small assumption at a time.

When a mom carries all of that, it's invisible too, but it's expected.
The knowledge comes with the title. It has a name attached, a role the whole world recognizes.

You memorized the shoe sizes of kids the world keeps reminding you aren't yours.

Mom-level tracking, with no mom-level standing.
The information slid to you with no conversation - or authority - alongside it.

I call it the stepmom tax.
And to be clear, it has nothing to do with money.

It's what the role itself collects: responsibility without a title, labor without acknowledgment, and a running mental tab that nobody else in the house can see.

This week I'm naming every part of it.
Four days, four costs.
By Wednesday you'll have language for what you've been paying in silence, and on the last day, a way to stop overpaying.

Part 2 drops tomorrow. Follow so you don't miss it.

💫 And send this to a stepmom who's been carrying it silently for too long.

🗺️ YOU WERE GIVEN THE WRONG FAMILY MAP. 😱

If therapy advice made your stepfamily life harder, that does not mean you failed.
Sometimes the advice was made for a family structure you are not living in.
🫶 You are not broken.
🫶 Your family is not broken.
🫶 The advice may have been the wrong fit.
🫶 You may just need support that actually understands stepfamily life.

⭐ Save this for the days you start blaming yourself.
