This event represents Portland Firefighters Children’s Burn Foundation which is a non-profit, public charity that raises money through grants, donations and events. The foundation operates strictly on a volunteer basis with no salaried positions so that all funds raised benefit the foundation. Outreach education and serving as a resource for hospitals, rehabilitation facilities and fire departments that support burn survivors. Arrange for a child’s transport locations where they can get the care they need such as The Shriner’s Burn Unit in Boston. Financially assists families needing to stay near their critically injured child and to cover costs associated with rehabilitation that may not be covered by insurance companies such as pressure garments. Pays for local youth to attend a summer burn camp in Connecticut and hosts dozens of children each year at their own Fire and Ice Winter Burn Camp here in Maine.
