Practice the essentials of clinical herbalism with a group of your peers and the support of experienced herbalists.

Our group meets in Portland five weekends per year, including a wildcrafting camping trip, and 1-2 times a month online to study formulation, interviewing and client assessment, and safe clinical practice. Each student completes an herbal research project of their choosing, and we conclude the year practicing our skills with clients in person at our mock clinic.

Students ready to take a foundational course in herbal medicine should apply now for The Herbalist Training Program. This in-person course meets one weekend per month Feb-Oct and includes a camping trip with wildcrafting and medicine making in the field!

Herbalists who are looking for a course to guide their work with clients can join our Clinical Herbalism program. A combination of online and in-person classes includes formulation, interviewing and client assessment, herbal research, and practice with clients at our mock clinic.

Yesterday, we spotted a western peony (Paeonia brownii) with a flower bud along the Willard Springs Trail at Conboy Lake National Wildlife Refuge. They'll be blooming there soon. For those people in central Oregon, they should be blooming soon at Big Summit Prairie in the Ochoco National Forest.

Western peony is one of two native peonies that are found in North America. It can be found along the east slope of the Cascades in Washington, at numerous spots east of the Cascades in Oregon into central and southern Idaho, and across northern California and Nevada.
