What a different postpartum experience this has been from 7.5 years ago. ♥️
With my first, I experienced PPD and PPA. He came early, colic deeply impacted our family, and I was navigating more than I understood at the time.
I didn’t know I was neurodivergent.
I didn’t know I was anemic.
And I didn’t yet understand my nervous system the way I do now.
This time around, I’ve had a very different experience. I’ve learned to listen to my body, ask for support, set boundaries, and let go of the idea that I have to do everything myself.
That doesn’t mean I figured it all out. I didn’t.
Postpartum looks different for every family, and so much of it is shaped by things outside our control: access to support and healthcare, resources, sleep, birth experiences, our histories, culture, beliefs, and the communities we come from.
I feel incredibly grateful for the support I’ve had this time around, while also knowing that support should not be a privilege.
There have still been hard days. There will be more.
But 7.5 years of learning, growing, therapy, parenting, understanding my own neurodivergence, and getting to know my nervous system have changed how I move through this season.
And yes… having more ferritin this time probably helps too.
Feeling really grateful for this little human and for the perspective that comes with getting to do this all again.🙏🏼
