Wisconsin American Legion College Training and inspiring American Legion Family members throughout Wisconsin to help their local Posts better serve veterans, their families, and the community.

The core curriculum includes the Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced Courses. Each course lasts 7 - 7 1/2 hours face-to-face (with lunch) or 6 hours virtually covered over two 3-hour sessions on consecutive days. Completing these 3 courses, along with the National Basic Training Course, entitles the Legion Family member to receive a diploma as a WI Legion College graduate. Other supplemental courses include Post Commander Course, Post Adjutant Course, Consolidated Post Report, and County Commander Course. Other courses are developed and offered based on requests by the Department or Posts. Face-to-face courses can be requested and hosted by posts around the state, who provide the facility and lunch. Requests should be sent to Chancellor Julie Muhle. Face-to-face courses must have at least 12 confirmed attendees. Virtual courses are scheduled throughout the year. They are announced on the Department website, Legion Family page, and on this page, as well as through email blasts to the Districts.

Here’s a great deal for those who enroll early in Fall courses!

Be the first from your district to sign up for the Basic Course and earn a Dean’s Scholarship, which means your $15 tuition will be refunded. This applies to the first Legionnaire, the first ALA member, and the first SAL member from each district.

Your Wisconsin American Legion College returns with a slate of Fall courses needed to earn your WI Legion College graduate pin - and become a more effective leader and member in our Legion Family. Yes, all Legion Family members are eligible to attend our College courses.

The course line-up is:
Basic Course – Sep 19-20 – 9AM to Noon both days
Basic Course – Sep 23-24 – 6-9PM each night
Intermediate Course – Oct 14-15 – 6-9PM each night
Intermediate Course – Oct 31-Nov 1 –9AM to Noon both days
Advanced Course – Nov 7-8 –9AM to noon (second day slightly longer)
Advanced Course – Dec 9-10 – 6-9PM (second night slightly longer)

Greetings! Summer-time is slowly fading, which means it is time for our Fall courses. The schedule will be posted here in a few days as soon as we get the sign-up info posted on the Department website. The schedule will also be posted on the Wisconsin American Legion Family page and the Dept website.

We are thinking of doing a few of the shorter courses as well, but nothing is firm yet. If you have any suggestions, please respond to this and let us know. As a reminder, these are the current courses in our curriculum:
CORE COURSES required to earn your WI College graduate pin: Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced – each is 6 hours (two 3-hour sessions).
SUPPLEMENTAL COURSES: most are 3 hours, several are 2 hours: Post Cmdr, County Cmdr, Adjutant, Post Finances, mylegion.org, Consolidated Post Report, Generational Leadership Issues, Social Media, and Public Relations for the Local Legion Family. Several will be done at Midwinter, and all will be offered during our Virtual Springtime session in March-April

April 11-12 (9AM to Noon Central Time), or Apr 22-23 (6-9PM Central Time)
Advanced Course
May 20-21 (6-9PM Central Time), or May 30-31 (9AM to Noon Central Time)
If you have completed the Basic Course, complete these two courses to earn your WI Legion College pin. If you have not taken the Basic Course, but want to begin your College journey now, the Dean of the College has given permission for Legion Family members to take these courses now and complete their College requirements during the Fall semester.
