Tim Tebow - Fighting For Our Children | SRS #199 05/20/2025

If you know me you know I love Tim Tebow and the mission he is on. Not just an amazing leader, football player, message bringer ie. John 3:16 went viral by wearing it in college and the pros on his eye blackout leading to million’s of people searching… He is also leading a massive rescue mission. I love the Tim Tebow Foundation and all they are doing to end human trafficking. They help not just save the most vulnerable but also help restore them. So much more to say, but I will just end with this thought. This interview is worth your time for the safety of your own family and for those who right now are praying they will be found.

Hey friends! Here are the top 10 things I recommend parents do to help secure and protect their child’s identity, location, accounts, and safety on social media and gaming platforms:
1. Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Activate 2FA on all your child’s accounts (social media, gaming, email). This adds an extra layer of security beyond just a password.
2. Lock Down Privacy Settings
Review and maximize privacy settings on every app and platform. Ensure accounts are set to “Private” or “Friends Only,” and limit who can contact, follow, or message your child.
3. Disable Location Sharing
Turn off location sharing in social media apps, games, and the device settings itself (like Snap Map on Snapchat or location tagging in Instagram posts).
4. Use Strong, Unique Passwords
Help your child create long, complex, and unique passwords for each account. Consider using a password manager to keep them organized.
5. Limit Personal Info in Profiles
Remove sensitive personal information like full birthdate, school name, phone number, and exact hometown from public profiles and bios.
6. Regularly Review Friends and Followers

*Access given to the wrong person can have very negative consequences.

Go through your child’s friend lists together and remove anyone they don’t personally know or trust. Emphasize quality over quantity in connections.
7. Monitor and Approve Apps & Games
Check which apps and games your child uses. Research them together and ensure they’re age-appropriate and come from trusted sources.
8. Teach “Think Before You Post”
Coach your child to avoid posting personal details like vacation plans, school schedules, or real-time whereabouts — and to never share sensitive photos or documents.

**This is essential! One of the biggest mistakes I see is what actually gets shared and/or posted by kids. It takes only a moment to post or send and typically quite a long process to delete! Think long term.

9. Set Up Alerts & Monitor Activity
Enable account activity alerts (like logins from new devices) and regularly check account histories. Consider using parental control apps or tools to monitor usage.
10. Have Ongoing Conversations
Keep open, non-judgmental communication about online safety, scams, cyberbullying, and risky behaviors. Make sure your child knows they can come to you if something feels off.

I hope this information can help!

Hey friends! As many of you know I left teaching and I jumped into the world of consulting a few years ago. I’ve had the opportunity to serve people and companies from the health industry, wealth management, social media platforms and everything in between. It has been quite an adventure! Either way I have learned a few things and plan to share some thoughts, tips and tricks with my friends. Lets start with keeping kids safe online!

Do you remember when it came out a few years back that Snapchat introduced “Snap Map,” a feature that allows users to share their real-time location with friends on an interactive map? If not here are a couple thoughts about what it did and why if you have kids it should matter to you. First, it gave exact location visibility. It can display a user’s precise location, down to the specific street, to all their Snapchat friends unless the user activates “Ghost Mode” to hide their location. Let’s be clear on the Ghost Mode. A user had to “opt in” to Ghost Mode. IT WAS NOT THE DEFAULT. So, if you are a parent not knowing this information at the time there is/was an actual tracking device in their hands. Once this information came out and the alarm was raised SnapChat made changes that gives more parental control and privacy protection. Thats great, but it should also be a cautionary tale for us all to pay attention to. Question for all my parents out there. Do you actually know the platforms, apps, gaming and various online connections your kids have? More importantly do you know how you and your child can best secure their identity and location from exposure to strangers while online? Stay tuned!
