After many months of consideration I have decided to drop my kids Jiu-Jitsu class.
I’m going to start a kids boxing class during that time slot. The intent of the kids boxing class will be to compete. Kids are allowed to box at 8 years old and I will accept students at 6. All kids who sign up will be expected to compete in USA Boxing matches. Boxing is both a self-defense and a sport and my goal with youth boxing is to develop youth boxers as well as provide a solid self-defense foundation to build on with things like American Combat Ju-Jitsu, BJJ, Sambo, and Wrestling when they turn 13.
All of the kids currently in the kids Jiu-Jitsu class are welcome in the boxing class.
We’ll be starting slow so there won’t be any competitions scheduled until after January 1st 2027. More than likely the first competition will be in the spring for boxers in the kids class.
The cost for boxing is $30 a month plus a yearly USA Boxing Membership which is around $100 per year or less. They will need mouth guards, USA Boxing approved headgear, 12 oz boxing gloves, hand wraps, a mouth guard case, boxing shorts, boxing tank top, boxing or wrestling shoes, and a gym bag to carry everything. All the equipment purchases can be spread out over time so it’s not such a big hit on the budget.
