Mason County Schools is a school district in Point Pleasant WV. We have 7 elementary schools, 3 secondary schools, and one Career Center. Our student population is about 3800 students.

🚌 FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL TOMORROW Mason County, Slow Down & Watch for Kids! 🚌

Buses are rolling and kids are back on our roads starting tomorrow. Please give yourself extra time and stay alert and here's what WV law requires:

🛑 School Bus Stop Law
If a school bus has its red flashing lights on and stop-arm out, you must stop — from BOTH directions on undivided roads. Wait until the lights stop flashing and the bus moves before you go. Passing a stopped bus is a criminal offense in WV, with fines and possible jail time, especially if a child is put at risk.

🐢 School Zone Speed
Posted school zones are 15 mph during arrival/dismissal and recess. Fines run $100–$500, and speeding 15+ mph over the limit with children present can mean up to 6 months in jail.

👀 A Few More Safety Reminders

• Put the phone down — no texting through school zones or near bus stops

• Watch for kids walking/biking, especially near intersections and driveways

• Be patient at bus stops — drivers are loading and unloading our most vulnerable passengers

• Leave a few extra minutes for your morning commute

Two days left until the new school year starts. Everyone is working hard to get the schools looking great before students come back. Thanks to all the hard working employees that make the schools welcoming.
