Intuitive eating is a non-diet approach to health and wellness that encourages you to listen to your body’s natural hunger and fullness cues rather than external diet rules. It’s about reconnecting with your body and building trust in your internal wisdom.

Developed by dietitians Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch, intuitive eating is based on 10 core principles, including:
Reject the diet mentality
Honor your hunger
Make peace with food
Respect your body
Feel your fullness

It’s not about willpower or restriction. It’s about nourishment, self-compassion, and freedom around food.

Celebrating Excellence at the IAND Annual Conference

Last week, students and faculty from Idaho State University’s Department of Nutrition and Dietetics attended the Idaho Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (IAND) Annual Conference in Boise, Idaho.

According to IAND, the conference offers sessions "geared to sharpen up the nutrition professional’s skillset and knowledge" and it did not disappoint! Attendees enjoyed insightful presentations, meaningful networking opportunities, and, of course, delicious food.

We are proud to share that three members of the ISU community were honored during the event:

Barbara Gordon, EdD, RDN, FAND, Professor Emeritus, received the 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award, the highest honor given by IAND. This award recognizes her outstanding service, impactful leadership, and lasting contributions to the field of nutrition and dietetics.

Sari Landers was named the Outstanding Dietetics Student for the MS/DI Program.

Travis Jensen was named the Outstanding Dietetics Student for the Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD).

Please join us in congratulating Barb, Sari, and Travis for their remarkable achievements and continued dedication to the profession. We are so proud to have you representing ISU Nutrition and Dietetics!

According to an article published in Biological Times in Feb. 2025 -
Breakfast gives your body the jumpstart it needs after a night of fasting, delivering essential nutrients and energy. It wakes up your metabolism, sharpens your focus, lifts your mood, and helps keep those mid-morning snack attacks at bay. Regular breakfast eaters tend to have healthier diets, better weight management, and lower risks of heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and high blood pressure. Plus, it keeps your blood sugar steady and your brain less foggy. In short: breakfast does your body (and brain) a lot of good.
