Tuesday Trivia “Answer”

Since Tuesday is subjective, Wednesday becomes “Here's my answer.”

Yesterday I asked what catches your eye first at a quilt show.

For me?

Something that makes me stop and think, “Wait...what's THAT?”

I love discovering something unexpected—whether it's a technique, a fabric combination or an idea I hadn't considered before. Or it could be a fun gadget!

That's probably why I enjoy creating things that way, too. 😉

Curiosity is a pretty powerful teacher.

And we leave it THERE. No wink-wink “you'll see soon!” because that starts getting too obvious.

Show Prep Begins

I'm getting ready for the Flathead Quilters' Guild Quilt Show, and there is a LOT happening behind the scenes.

Let's just say I've been having entirely too much fun with one particular idea.

Apparently, I don't leave The Studio at The Studio. 😂❤️

I made a barn block featuring The Studio by Sew in Stitches logo, and mine has officially found its home on the front porch.

And I have to give Terry some credit...

This sweet man just keeps letting pieces of my quilting world find their way into his home. Quilts, fabric, projects—and now The Studio logo is hanging on his porch. 😂

Little by little, I'm turning his home into a quilter's haven, and he just rolls with it.

I think that makes him a keeper. ❤️

And I have to admit...seeing that little piece of The Studio when I walk up to the house makes me pretty happy.

⭐ BlockBuster #34: I Saw Stars!

When I looked at Evening Shadow, I saw an interesting frame around the center.

But you know me...I couldn't help thinking:

What if I put a star there? ⭐

A yard of poinsettia border print, four fussy-cut Lemoyne Stars, and a little experimenting later—and my Christmas table topper was born. ❤️🎄

🧠 Tuesday Trivia Answer: FALSE!

A quilt block is just the beginning.

Turn it. Rotate it. Repeat it. Change the placement. Put several together and watch for secondary designs.

One of the things I love most about teaching quilting is watching the moment someone stops seeing a block as the answer and starts seeing it as a possibility.

Learn the technique—then explore what else it can do. ❤️

One of my favorite parts of quilting isn't just figuring out how to make something—it's figuring out how to explain it so someone else can make it, too.

There’s something festive taking shape on my cutting table this week!

I’ve pulled out a beautiful poinsettia border print and paired it with my Studio 180 Design Lemoyne Star tool. A border print already offers so many interesting design possibilities—but when you add precision-pieced Lemoyne Stars into the mix, the ideas really start spinning!

Will I be framing the stars with the border print?
Fussy-cutting special sections of the fabric?
Creating a traditional holiday quilt—or giving it an unexpected twist?

I may have a plan… but part of the fun is seeing whether anyone can figure it out before I start cutting. 😉

Does anyone have an idea what I might be doing with this combination? Share your best guess in the comments. There are no wrong answers—and someone may even suggest an idea I haven’t considered yet!

One of my favorite things about Blockbusters is that they remind us there isn't just one "right" way to use beautiful fabric.

Sometimes a quilt kit becomes a Blockbuster.

Sometimes stash becomes a masterpiece.

Sometimes the project you planned isn't the project your fabric wants to become.

And that's okay.

Beautiful fabric deserves to become something you'll actually make—not something that stays folded on a shelf because the original pattern no longer fits where you are today.

Keep exploring.

Keep learning.

Keep quilting.
