The AVPFA is an associate executive officer and will work directly with the Vice President of Finance & Administration during a transitional period intended to result in the promotion to Vice President of Finance & Administration and Chief Financial Officer upon the candidates successful completion of outlined expectations. What a first week! 👏

We started strong with donuts and photo ops, cooled off with snow cones, handed out popcorn to remind everyone to "pop in" and check on each other throughout the semester, and wrapped it all up with an ice cream social.

We also had some fun bringing back the classic "first day of school" sign! This time, students filled them out themselves, and when we asked what's getting them through the semester, the answer was almost unanimous: caffeine or energy drinks. ☕ One student said erasable pens, and honestly? We respect it. 🖊️

Instructor Sheila Baltz has been doing her part to move adult education forward in Arkansas. 👏

Sheila recently presented at the Teachers' Summit alongside Dana Rockwell from ASU-Newport's Adult Education Program, sharing valuable GED tools and resources with fellow educators. Her portion of the presentation focused on civics and economics, along with updates on the GED test and curriculum.

Sheila is also 1 of 3 GED trainers in the entire state of Arkansas. In that role, she keeps educators across the state informed on new updates, shares helpful resources, and leads presentations for the state office, supporting adult education well beyond our own program.

We're grateful for her dedication to adult education. Thank you, Sheila, for representing us so well! 👏
