Many young people exhibit leadership abilities but never get the chance to fully realize them. YLMC is unique in that it endeavors to involve students more accustomed to sitting on the ledge than diving in feet first. From eliminating participation fees to providing some transportation, the YLMC planning committee hopes to provide the assistance necessary to allow all selected students an equal ch

ance to freely participate. By providing leadership tools to a broader audience today, YLMC hopes to play a part in creating tomorrow’s Marshall County success stories. Youth Leadership Marshall County is a unique and interactive approach to building leadership skills in a new generation of young people. Each junior high school in Marshall County, including parochial schools, may select 3 students to participate. Students will be selected at the end of their 7th grade year and participate during their 8th grade year, in hopes of preparing them for the increased number of leadership opportunities that come with the high school experience. A total of 9 monthly meetings will be held, from September through May. Participants are asked to make meeting attendance a priority. Programs will take place throughout Marshall County, with transportation provided as available/needed. Participants are selected by middle school guidance department staff during the annual enrollment period, April 1— April 30.
