NSO courses stay open over winter break! It's a great time to get caught up or work ahead if you choose. Teachers will not be grading or available for questions until we return on Jan 3rd, but you are welcome to reach out to [email protected] if you have any questions over the break!
Intermediate District 287 is looking for qualified Administrative Assistants for an opening at our Northern Star Online program! This full-time position works year-round. After a training period, approximately 80% of the work can be remote.

Congratulations to Jill Lewis for winning the Intermediate District 287 "Above & Beyond" Award for NSO! Jill is the program coordinator at NSO and she was nominated in the Trauma-Responsive & Healing-Centered Practices category.
Jill is often the first person to discover when a family or student is struggling. She is quick to demonstrate care and help our students and families prioritize their needs in a supportive way that never sounds punitive. She helps struggling learners find a pathway to getting back in track. She knows the students, their parents, their counselors, and often other people involved in our students' lives. She is quick to communicate the information to teachers to help them support their learners as well.

Congratulations to Jon Fila, our NSO English instructor, for his MN Teacher of the Year nomination! Jon has taught and developed courses at NSO for over 10 years. He is currently teaching several English courses, including a new course, Science Fiction: Dune. We are proud and appreciative of Jon's excellent work in educating and supporting our students at NSO!
The Intermediate District 287 community is thrilled with the nomination of Jon Fila for the 2022 Education Minnesota Teacher of the Year.
Jon has worked in various positions at Intermediate District 287 for the past 11 years. In his current role, he teaches courses as an instructor for Northern Star Online.
We are incredibly proud of Jon at Intermediate District 287 and Minnesota would also be incredibly proud if he were selected as the Minnesota Teacher of the Year. Congratulations Jon Fila on your nomination!
