Wayzata Education Association members lobbied at the state Capitol today, meeting with legislators to discuss the negative impacts of potential cuts to Special Education funding. We also advocated for the new Educator Group Insurance Plan (EGIP), part of an omnibus bill. If passed, EGIP could give educators across the state meaningful bargaining power and direct more taxpayer dollars into classrooms, rather than diverting a portion to large health insurance corporations.

Only a few more days until election day! Get out and vote!
We are pleased that all 6 candidates chose to be part of engaging with our WEA educators and sought a WEA endorsement. We appreciated having all 6 candidates take the time to fill out our WEA survey questions and it was wonderful to meet all 6 candidates when they interviewed with our WEA candidate committee on September 29th. Unfortunately, there are only 3 seats up for election.
We appreciate all 6 candidates taking the time to engage with us during our process:
Alicia Liddle for Wayzata School Board
Milind Sohoni for Wayzata School Board
Julie Joseph for Wayzata School Board
Heidi Kader, Kate Knight and Laura Conway.
We wish all the candidates the best of luck!

We are honored, and humbled, to be endorsed by teachers of the Wayzata Education Association (WEA), the professionals who know our schools, our students, and our challenges best. Their support affirms our shared commitment to strong classrooms, respect for educators, and putting students at the center of every decision.
Together, we’ll keep working to strengthen our schools for every child. We are excited to be running for the Wayzata School Board to put kids first.
With your support, we will advance equity, engage with the community, and ensure excellence for each and every student!

With six highly qualified candidates, the Wayzata Education Association faced a difficult decision in selecting 2025 school board endorsements.
Our endorsement process began with the creation of a survey, which was reviewed, approved, and voted on by our Executive Board of Union Representatives. This survey was then provided to each candidate.
After receiving candidates' survey responses, the WEA assembled a committee of educators from all levels to review the answers and conduct Zoom interviews with each candidate.
Following the interviews, the committee engaged in a thoughtful discussion and reached a collective decision on our three endorsements.
