ARE BENGAL CATS AFRAID OF WATER?

Very quick answer, no. Unlike most of their domestic cousins who seem to think the world has ended when they get wet, Bengal cats seem to have an extreme fascination with water. It actually seems like it might be one of their favorite things to do, play with water, no matter where the water is. They love water so much that it’s always a good idea to keep their water bowl as far from their food bowl as possible or you might come in one day seeing your Bengal cat deliberately dropping dry food into the water just so they can bat it around with it’s paw or just sit there watching the food float around as it swells up with water.

You might notice if you leave the water running in the sink that your Bengal cat might be drawn to it so that they can get in on the action and have a little fun with the water by batting at it, letting the water run over their paw and then lapping it up. It’s amazing just how much fun a Bengal cat can receive from a steady stream of faucet water.

Whether it’s their water dish, a kitchen sink, toilet, shower or bathtub, if there’s water in it the Bengal cat is going to do their best to make it all a fun game. It’s amazing just how unafraid of water Bengal cats are and how entertaining it can be for you, their owner, to sit back and watch how they playfully and joyfully interact with water.

Bengals Are Very Playful!!

This can be a good or bad point depending on your lifestyle. Bengal cats are more playful than most cats and most dogs too.

While a quick 10-minute game with a feather and string will exhaust a typical pet cat, Bengals will want to keep playing far longer. If you need to get some work done this playfulness might be a problem as Bengals will get under your feet looking to play with you. However, if you love playing for hours a day, or have children that do, then this cat breed will be an excellent playmate.

Bengals have a lot of energy which can also mean a lot of trouble so we built this play place so they can stretch their legs without too much supervision…

Lets talk about GLITTER!

The Bengal breed is the original domestic cat displaying "Glitter". Glitter is a highly desirable trait and not all Bengals have it. You can recognize glitter, by the sparkling effect of the cats coat. Even in low lighting you can see the sheen of the glitter on the front paws and legs of a glittered Bengal. "Glitter" is a translucent hollow hair shaft that catches light and reflects it, that is present throughout the pelt.

The best way to visualize the glitter effect is it to think of it as a sprinkling of gold, silver or crystal fairy dust over the coat that shimmers when the cat moves in certain lights. Having Glitter in a pelt is amazingly eye catching.

While glitter is not required in the Bengal breed it is highly prized and enhances their exotic quality as a unique breed.
