PMI Dallas Chapter

PMI Dallas Chapter PMI Dallas chapter is a professional organization for Project Management Professionals. one of the 10 largest chapters in the world, with over 5000 members.

The PMI Dallas Chapter is one of the most innovative all-volunteer chapters in the world, and we are proud of our 25+ year history as a chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI). Membership for our chapter is over 4,000 members and our monthly dinner meetings typically attract over 200 attendees. We work hard to make sure that our members and Dallas-area project managers are aware of chapt

er events, and that they feel welcome when they arrive. Our monthly newsletter and website keep members informed of chapter news, upcoming events, local training opportunities (vendors post these on our website for free as a service to our members), job listings, PMI happenings, and anything else we think they need to know. The values we have are firmly focused on developing the quality of project management and recognizing it as a valued profession. To that end, we have developed innovative educational programs like our PMP Exam Review and PM101 (Basic Project Management) sessions. We support the local educational organizations that provide project management degree programs through our College Outreach Program. Our Registered Company Coordinators (RCCs) serve as single points of contact within major area employers for information regarding the Dallas chapter to assist their coworkers in identifying ways to take advantage of the services we provide. We are very proud of the Education Committee and RCC volunteers who make these programs possible. Visit our Membership page for information on becoming a chapter member. Vision Statement
The PMI Dallas Chapter will be recognized as the professional organization and resource of choice for project management within the Dallas area.

☕ Coffee, Connections & Community in Plano!

Another great morning of conversation and connection is in the books! On Saturday, August 15, the PMI Dallas community gathered at La Madeleine in Plano for our latest Coffee & Community networking event.

We had a great turnout, with project professionals from across the DFW area coming together for a casual morning of coffee, conversation, and connection! With no formal agenda, everyone had the chance to meet new people, catch up with familiar faces, exchange ideas, and grow their professional networks. And of course, good coffee and pastries made the morning even better! ☕🥐

🤝 A big thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the morning such a success. It was great to see new faces, reconnect with familiar ones, and continue building a strong and welcoming PMI Dallas community.

📅 Missed this Coffee & Community? Don’t worry—there will be more! These gatherings are held at different locations throughout the DFW area, giving project professionals more opportunities to meet, connect, and grow.

⭐ Speaker Spotlight: Greg Gomel

We’re excited to welcome Greg Gomel to the North Texas Project Management Conference 2026, presented by the PMI Dallas Chapter in partnership with UNT Frisco.

🎤 Session: Governance as a Quality Tool, Not a Bottleneck

Projects can pass every gate, meet reporting requirements, and appear to be on track—yet still deliver poor-quality outcomes. Why? The problem may have started long before ex*****on.

In this session, Greg will challenge the idea that governance is simply another layer of bureaucracy. Instead, he’ll show how effective governance can serve as an early-warning system for quality, helping project and program managers identify risks before they turn into rework, technical debt, operational instability, or stakeholder dissatisfaction.

💡 What You’ll Learn:
🔹 How unclear decision-making and ownership can quietly create quality risks
🔹 Why stage gates can fail when they become a “check-the-box” exercise
🔹 How to clarify decision authority and make project trade-offs more explicit
🔹 Practical techniques, including decision clarity matrices and quality-focused stage gates
🔹 How PMs can influence better decisions—even when they don’t have formal authority

Rather than allowing governance to slow delivery, learn how to use it to strengthen accountability, improve decision-making, and protect project quality from the start.

📅 Saturday, September 26, 2026
⏰ Session Time: 10:05–10:50 AM
📍 UNT Frisco | Frisco, TX

👉 Join Greg Gomel at the North Texas Project Management Conference and discover how better governance can lead to better decisions—and ultimately, better project outcomes.
