Wow! Our end of year celebration is a wrap! Thanks to M-89 Cinema for welcoming our students! The "Take a Bow Luau" for our 5th graders and our pizza & popsicle lunch for all our kids and families were tons of fun! Thank you to all who were able to attend. Our staff loved spending the day with you, hearing the students laugh...and our favorite take a bow comment was, "I'm proud of the friends I've made this year." We love you and we think you're wonderful ... just as you are!

Fifth grader, Kira, created this poem using alliteration, simile, and onomatopoeia, while also writing about microgreens...something she and her family do at home. Way to go, Kira!

Microgreens

by Kira

Many mini microgreens planted in mesh trays

soaking in purified water

sprouting in the black out stage

like an upside down spider reaching

for the flies above

pushing weight up with a mighty "argh!"

and with the power of science

Be sure to note that our staff will be at Darrow Park in Plainwell on Friday, March 25th from 1:00 - 2:00. We hope to see many of our students and give them a chance to visit Library on the Loose and choose a book or two to take home. We'll also have a treat for each student and will host a reading activity in Gilkey Elementary's Nature Lab!

This sounds like fun if your family would be interested in going.

A great big thank you to Mrs. Gayle VandeMaele who helmed our ship last Thursday and Friday while Ms. Brinks, Mrs. Macklin, and Ms. Muselin all attended the MACUL Conference in Grand Rapids. Mrs. VandeMaele is the BEST! She is always ready to help out and keeps us all on track. We're lucky to have her working with us and hope you'll send her some love and gratitude!
