Ira Jones Middle School PTO

Yesterday the Illinois Air National Guard brought their Black Hawk Helicopter for all of our Eagles to see! The helicopter landed in our field and every student got to go visit and meet with the National Guard during their social studies class. Then the whole school gathered together to watch it take off and fly away.

In class students are all learning about the National Guard and the important role it plays in our country.

Thank you to Mrs. LaJeunesse and Mrs. Romandine for organizing this incredible experience for our students and for bringing classroom lessons to life!!

Here are just some of the many, many pictures taken yesterday!

Hey Eagles! Parents and guardians can sign up to help pass out PRIDE Incentives during lunch. See the first semester sign up below, and remember to only sign up for one spot so that as many people as possible get a chance! Thank you!

If you're new to Ira, PRIDE Incentives are monthly rewards that students can earn by getting PRIDE coupons from staff. Students then get to choose how they spend their coupons with various rewards and opportunities throughout the year. We invite parents and guardians to come once per month during lunch hours to help pass out the rewards for the month. It's a great way to volunteer and to see what a middle school lunch period looks like!!

Thank you for volutneering to help distribute PRIDE incentives at Ira Jones. All dates will be during lunch periods, please make sure to select the correct lunch period so you can see your student! Please only sign up for one spot to ensure that as many people as possible get a chance to volunteer!....

A special and heartfelt congratulations to our very own Ms. Karen Blair who was awarded the Niehus Award from the Plainfield Foundation of Excellence at last night’s meeting. This is such a well deserved recognition and we couldn’t be more proud!

The Niehus Award honors an individual who displays the characteristics of service, dedication and excellence.

Ms. Blair embodies all of these and more! She supports her students in and out of the classroom, constantly providing new opportunities and challenges. Whether directing them in awe inspiring musicals, meeting kids with donuts before school to practice for state competitions, taking students to new singing opportunities, or cheering students on at other events, she works tirelessly to empower students through music and education. Her efforts don’t stop at Ira. She freely gives of her talents to many other schools in the district and supports her students in their outside endeavors. If you have been lucky enough to have her as a teacher, colleague, or friend then you know exactly what we’re talking about. Her heart, kindness, dedication shines through in all that she does.

Whenever you get a chance, let Ms Blair know what her years of service to our community has meant for you!!
