A wonderful week at MCI. Pre-season sports practices are underway, with new and returning faculty and staff orientations and briefs, that culminated with fun team building activities this morning on front campus. Enjoy a few photos of our superb faculty and staff in action :)

MCI Athletics is pleased to announce the 2026 Inductees to the Athletic Hall of Fame

Charlie Tryder '76 was a standout 3 sport athlete in football, basketball and baseball at MCI earning Athlete of the Year in 1976 before continuing his baseball career at UMaine as well as many years as a teacher, coach and AD at Massabesic, Fryeburg Academy, Gorham, Waynflete and Cape Elizabeth.

Heather Moon McCaw '87 was a standout 3 sport athlete in field hockey, basketball and outdoor track & field, earning All-State honors in field hockey her junior and senior seasons. Heather continued her field hockey career at UMaine where she was a two-time captain and led the Black Bears in assists her sophomore through senior years before embarking on a long teaching career of pre-K through 1st grade.

The Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place Saturday September 19th as part of Homecoming Weekend

Sadly our MCI Summer STEAM Camp came to an end last Friday afternoon. A wonderful final few days with talent show, awards evening, a final group photograph, packing, and a bus ride back to Logan International airport. Mr. G. and Mr. P. will see you all in April in Taiwan.

MCI’s Gabby is IN! 🎉 Gabrielle Finelli, MCI’s Class of 2026 Valedictorian, is heading to Colby College, one of the most selective colleges in the country, where only about 7% of applicants are admitted.

At MCI, Gabby built an academic path around her passion for science. Through MCI’s School of Math & Science, she represented the school at an international sustainability conference in Taiwan, served as Student Council president, and earned both the MPA Principal’s Award and the George M. Parks Award among other honors.

This fall, she will continue that journey studying biology at Colby. Gabby’s story shows what can happen when talented students are given the support, opportunities, and freedom to build an education around their interests and future goals. Congratulations, Gabby! We are incredibly proud of you. Colby is lucky to have you!

It might not be the best weather currently, but the tent is up on front campus! Reunion 2026 begins TOMORROW with the MCI Alumni Association (Maine Central Institute) Golf Scramble, Hall of Fame/Distinguished Achievement Award Celebration, and Alumni Association party at the Broken Putter Grille Room.
