What's it like to live at MCI?
In this month's issue of our Residential Student Life Newsletter, boarding students from six countries—South Korea, the U.S., Thailand, Italy, Japan, and China—share their experiences settling into the dorms, taking up sports, participating in homecoming, and going on a field trip to Funtown Splashtown USA.

Yesterday, MCI Cheering competed at the Maine Gameday Competition hosted by Hampden Academy Athletics. Though they didn’t place, Co-Coach Kristen Clanton said it was the best they’ve ever performed that routine. She added that the team—more than half of whom are new to cheer—is excited for the rest of the competitive season to begin this winter. ! MCI Athletics.

MCI is proud to be a home away from home for students from all over the world!

This year, our students have traveled from four continents and 19 countries to Pittsfield, surrounded by Maine’s incredible landscape. Here, they create memories and global friendships that will last a lifetime. Yesterday, we completed our annual Cultural Heritage + Flag celebration by taking the traditional group picture in front of Founders Hall.

Our local and global community creates an environment to gain new perspectives and learn about cultures in a way that can’t be taught in a classroom.

Whether you're from just down the road or the other side of the planet, MCI has something for you. Learn more at www.mci-school.org.

Looking for something spooky this season? If you’re near Old Town this coming Tuesday, October 20, be sure to swing by the Public Library to see one of MCI’s own speak on a panel of horror fiction writers.

Originally from Florida, Kristen Clanton has taught humanities at MCI for five years. “My favorite classes to teach right now are College Composition and Modern Poetry,” she said. “The critical thinking and conversation that come out of those classes are outstanding.”

Clanton will be speaking about her debut novel, The Swallows. Published in 2023, it tells the story of 15-year-old Pearl, whose investigation into a series of mysterious deaths in her small town gets help from supernatural sources.

Call the Old Town Public Library at (207) 827-3972 to RSVP for the panel, and check the comments for links to learn more about Clanton and her work.
