✨We are so excited to start the 2026-2027 school year tomorrow ✨ See you in the morning !
💙💙Twas the Night Before School💙
Twas the night before school, and all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The backpacks were hung by the front door with care,
In hopes that the morning soon would be there.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of recess danced in their heads.
With brand-new pink erasers and crayons so bright,
They could barely close their eyes for the night.
When out in the hallway there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the sheets to see what was the matter.
Away to the closet I flew in a dash,
To check on my sneakers and new neon sash.
The moon on the breast of the freshly cut lawn
Gave the luster of midday anticipating the dawn.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
The big yellow bus, shifting into high gear!
With a driver so lively, so jolly and quick,
I knew in a moment I'd feel quite a kick.
More rapid than eagles my schoolmates they came,
And I whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:
"Now, Lily! now, Sammy! now, Chloe and Jason!
On, Marcus! on, Maya! for learning we're placin'!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the door!
Let’s go learn some math and read books by the score!"
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,
So up to the schoolhouse the big bus it flew,
With a backpack of goodies and a lunchbox- new.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the floor
The squeak of new sneakers inside the front door.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Through the doorway the teacher came with a bound.
She was dressed all in colorful patterns and grace,
And a welcoming smile beamed bright on her face.
A bundle of books she had flung on her desk,
And she looked like a guide on a wondrous quest.
Her eyes—how they twinkled! her spirit, how merry!
Her cheeks were like roses, her lips like a cherry!
Her droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
As she said, "Welcome back, let the year start to grow!"
The stump of a pencil she held tight in her hand,
And the projects she planned were the best in the land.
She spoke not a word, but went straight to her work,
Filling cubbies with name tags, and turned with a jerk.
And laying her finger aside of her nose,
And giving a nod, up the whiteboard she rose!
She sprang to her desk, to her class gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard her exclaim, ere she drove out of sight,
"Happy first day of school to all, and to all a great night!”
