I'm just sitting here thinking about everything that has been happening to me.
I remember when I was 18 years old and dropped outta school no direction or anything like that. And then at 21 my mom made me sign up for GED classes when we were living in San Diego.
I have to say that I didn't want to be in anybody's damn classroom because I thought I was grown.
But once I stopped fighting it and my mom was talking about how she put a brother out.
I finished and got my GED yes that was good for me but hearing my mom yelling from the crowd, " That's my baby that's my baby.
Man I tell you it was the best thing ever from there I went to the Marines and did 4 years in the Marines.
From there I joined the Army and then the Army National Guard I did a total of 16 years and 4 months.
And when it came to college I truly felt that I wasn't smart or good enough to be there.
Well I took the big leap and jumped right into a college classroom at first I was like damn all of these young kids I don't fit in.
But to speed up the story I really came into my own when I started my college journey at CCAC Homewood - Brushton Center.
I just wanted to go to school and nothing else but that my the universe has a away to put you in situations where you need to be.
I joined the veterans club at school but not just joined I became the president. Also doing my journey I met so many people who became a very important to me.
And here in the present I did something that I can say I'm very proud of and humbled as well.
I turned our veterans club into a chapter after reaching out to Student Veterans of America and boom CCAC veterans club became a chapter.
My journey was a long and hard one but I'm glad that I did it from going to the military and then college.
Where I walked across the stage 3 times and I have 1 more to go.
And then being nominated for the 2026 SVA Leadership and Legacy celebration along with with 18 others
Me and my fellow leaders was the first class to do this going to Washington DC.
While there we had a chance to go to the State Bldg also the House of Representatives and so many other things.
This happened May 26-28 but everything that has been happening in my life reminds me of my mom.
She always said stay humble and never forget where you came from.
