On a warm, sunny California day, I had the opportunity to spend time with students and staff at The Bridge School. It was a casual time for me to sit near the instruction that is offered to an intimate group of students who have complex needs. Many of these students have cortical visual impairment (CVI). Since 2012 The Bridge School has embraced the principles of CVI which began with learning and implementing The CVI Range. So now, in 2023, the process of addressing supports necessary for creating visual access have become instinctive. Environments, materials, and partner behaviors are seamlessly applied.

I hope everyone is staying safe and well. To those who have been personally touched by the COVID-19 pandemic, I send my deepest concerns and sincere wishes for recovery.

Some of you may know that my clinic, Pediatric VIEW at West Penn Hospital is currently closed. This is a hospital policy and I am uncertain of the re-open date. Anyone whose appointment has been cancelled will be offered appointments for the soonest possible times. I will make every effort to put additional PVP dates in my schedule when we are back in operation. In the meantime, please know that I am setting up Zoom meetings with anyone who wishes to check in with questions, observations, or to just touch base. If you would like to plan a Zoom meeting or a phone call, please email me at [email protected] .

Pediatric VIEW will be closed through April 2020. At this point, I cannot be sure about May and June. I will let you know as soon as I know. Thank you so much for your patience.
