Advocating for Children & Families Beyond the Classroom
On September 30, 2026, Brightside Academy's Director of Intervention & Development, Tammy Presley-Harris, and her team, joined the Children First advocacy visit to Washington, DC, providing an important opportunity to represent the children, families, and communities we serve.
During our Capitol Hill visit, our team met with the offices of Representative Dwight Evans, Representative Brian Fitzpatrick, and Representative Chris Deluzio to discuss continued federal support for Head Start, early childhood education, children with disabilities, and family support services.
As an organization serving families throughout Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, we believe our responsibility extends beyond our academies. Advocacy gives us an opportunity to bring the experiences and needs of the children, families, and educators we serve into conversations that shape resources and opportunities for young children and families.
Our work doesn’t stop at the classroom door. 💙 We are proud to continue supporting efforts that strengthen opportunities, resources, and services for the children and families in our communities.
