I learned how to teach the "new" math in college. This year I taught 5th grade math, preparing students for middle school. It was tough but rewarding in the end.

The bottom shows where students started. Red and yellow are students performing below grade level, that's how they entered.

The top image, PM3, is how they ended. Green, blue, and purple are on or above grade level performance. Yesssss, we did that!

I died three times… or at least it felt like I did.

After stepping out of the classroom for three years, returning has been a challenge to say the least. These little notes, kind words, and tokens of appreciation remind me that I am making a difference, even if it’s only for 180 days.

I have so much to say, but I still can’t quite find the words. My body is adjusting, and while I’m not at 100%, I’m grateful to know that I am loved, cared for, and appreciated.

I’ve almost crossed the finish line, and I’m proud of myself for making it 180 days.

Summer is approaching, and I’m switching gears to The Reliable REALTORĀ® full throttle.

I celebrate me.
And I only scratched the surface.

I always knew that stepping into public education would come with politics, gray areas, and systems that don’t always serve every child equally. But one thing I never wanted was for students to fall behind on my time.

Teaching has never been just a job to me. It has always been a responsibility — to push, encourage, challenge, and believe in children from every culture, background, language, and circumstance.

Because the future leaders of this nation are sitting in classrooms right now, waiting for someone to remind them that they are capable.

America was built on the blood, sweat, sacrifice, brilliance, and perseverance of people from every race, creed, and socioeconomic background.

And while there are so many layers of Black excellence that deserve to be seen and acknowledged, today I want to honor the people closest to me — the ones who taught me resilience, strength, work ethic, culture, and pride.
If I teach with passion, it’s because I come from people who survived with passion.

If I refuse to give up on kids, it’s because somebody once refused to give up on me.

Teaching isn’t what I do. It’s who I am. ā¤ļø
