Sad news for the Class of '70. Our dear friend, Andrew Novotny, passed away yesterday. Andy was at our reunion. May he rest in His peace.
Obituary for Andrew Novotny
Of Monroeville, formerly of North Braddock, age 70, died on Thursday, December 15, 2022.
Andy was the devoted and beloved husband of Marjorie (Griffiths) Novotny for 45 years.
Loving father of Angela (Daryl) Zufall of Monroeville and Elizabeth “Liz” (Justin) Krall of Monroeville.
Treasured grandfather of Adam and Gregory Zufall.
Dear brother of John Novotny of North Braddock, Gregory (Roberta) Novotny of West Mifflin and Donna (Chuck) Anderson of Penn Twp.
Born the son of the late Andrew and the late Martha (Andrascik) Novotny.
Andy is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Andy was a 1970 graduate of North Braddock Scott High School and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Technology from Point Park University. He was employed with Diskritter in Dormont for 28 years before spending the last 10 years of his career with Westinghouse in Cranberry from where he retired. Andy was an excellent bowler, bowled in many leagues, and rolled a personal high sanctioned game of 289 and a high series of 776. He was a stamp collector and member of the Wilkinsburg Stamp Club. Andy also was fond of collecting model trains and very much enjoyed caring for his yard and gardening.
Friends are welcome on Sunday from 12-4 p.m. and Monday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 700 Linden Avenue at Cable Avenue, East Pittsburgh (412-824-8800) where a Panachida will be prayed on Monday at 7 p.m.
Divine Liturgy for Andy will be in Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Braddock, on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m.
Andy will be laid to rest in Monongahela Cemetery.
