INDIANA STEELWORKERS: YOUR RIGHTS COULD BE AT RISK!

Indiana’s Public Question #1 could threaten workers’ rights to stand together, strike, and peacefully protest unfair workplace practices.

This proposed constitutional amendment would expand judges’ authority to deny bail, potentially allowing workers arrested during labor disputes to be held while awaiting trial.

USW District 7 OPPOSES Public Question #1 because of the potential impact on workers and our collective bargaining power.

UPDATE: PA STEELWORKERS-Amendment Introduced for SB 1260 to Protect USW Represented Jobs!

Due to your incredible activism over the past 24 hours, an amendment to SB 1260 was introduced by Majority Leader Matthew Bradford. Amendment A04570 would protect industrial workers by allowing them and future generations to complete work with their current qualifications.

Now is the time to keep up the pressure and make your voice heard again – tell your State Representative to support amendment A04570 to SB 1260.

PA Legislation Threatens Steelworker Jobs!

SB 1260 would expand electrical licensing requirements in Pennsylvania, but its broad language could reach far beyond construction and into industrial workplaces. For USW members, that could mean restrictions on work they have safely performed for generations in steel mills, manufacturing plants, chemical facilities, paper mills, and energy facilities.

USW's position is simple: Amend SB 1260 or vote NO.

It is critical that you do both of the following as the bill could be voted on this week.

1. Call 1-866-562-3921 to urge Speaker of the House, Joanna McClinton, to NOT bring SB 1260 up for a floor vote unless amended to protect workers in manufacturing facilities.

2. Visit http://usw.to/5rk to send a prewritten email to your State Representative urging them to vote NO on SB 1260 unless amended to protect workers in manufacturing facilities.

WHERE THE RUBBER MEETS THE ROAD: FIGHT FOR AMERICAN TIRE JOBS!

Domestic tire production has dropped roughly 40% since 2000, and more than 6,000 USW members have lost or are facing the loss of their jobs from recent plant closures and cuts.

We’re fighting back.

The USW is calling for a Section 201 investigation into tire imports to protect good union jobs and strengthen domestic tire production.

USW MEMBERS MADE A DIFFERENCE!

After Steelworkers across the country contacted their Senators, the Senate Agriculture Committee voted 10–11 against moving Farm Bill 2.0 forward.

The bill threatened working families, SNAP benefits and good union jobs.

The fight isn’t over. If the Farm Bill comes back, Rapid Response will be ready.
