"POKEPARK KANTO," a new Pokémon theme park, is officially set to open in Tokyo in spring 2026. This will be the first-ever permanent outdoor Pokémon-themed attraction.
Location: The park will be located within the existing Yomiuriland amusement park, situated in the Tama Hills area of Tokyo's Kanto region.
Size: The new area will cover approximately 2.6 hectares (26,000 square meters).
Zones: The park will be divided into two main areas:
Pokémon Forest: A nature trail where visitors can discover and interact with over 600 Pokémon in a variety of natural environments, from hilly paths to tall grass. The design is intended to make it feel like a real-world encounter with Pokémon in their natural habitats.
Sedge Town: A bustling town with themed shops, a Pokémon Center, a Poké Mart, and a gym. It will also be the location for Pokémon parades and other attractions. The landmark of this area is a Primarina-themed fountain.
Features: The park is being developed as a collaboration between The Pokémon Company, Yomiuri Land, and The Yomiuri Shimbun. The creative vision is led by Junichi Masuda of Game Freak, one of the original Pokémon developers. The park will feature physical models of Pokémon, with designs that change based on the season and weather.
Tickets: Advance ticket sales are expected to begin in late 2025. Further details on pricing and reservation methods will be announced closer to the opening date. 🇯🇵
