Thanksgiving Day appetizer. Paired with V***e Clicquot Demi Sec NV 375mL. This is a classic producer that I have a ton of respect for; it is an enjoyable sparkler, and I see how people love V***e.
BUT
This just isn't my first choice when it comes to Champagne producers. Let's talk about one of three biggest categories for Champagne producers.
🍾Maisons(Large Champagne Houses) -- Maisons (aka ‘Houses’) make up 87% of the Champagnes imported into the USA. Champagne houses buy their grapes from lots of grape growers from all over the region. The Maisons focus on blending grapes from different regions and vintages to produce a consistent taste every year. Look for the NM label on the bottle. This stands for Negociant Manipulant.
🥂This is why the average consumer leans more towards these types of Champagnes. They aren't bad Champagnes per say, they are just produced in a massive quanity and taste the same all the time. Boring, in my opinion.
Demi-Sec also means "Half-Dry"
