Endure24
Westmoreland PSTC is planning to host a 24-hour, scenario-based training event, and we’d like to see if local departments are interested in participating. Below you’ll find some basic information about the training. At the bottom of this email, there’s a link to the Endure24 Interest Form — please have one person per department complete it. With strong interest already anticipated, we will send a formal application with full details at a later date.
"Endure24" is a high-intensity, 24-hour simulation-based training exercise designed to test and hone the emergency response skills of fire service professionals across multiple disciplines. Set to take place on October 3, 2026, this rigorous program will challenge participating teams with over 50 simulated emergencies, each crafted to mimic real-world scenarios that responders may not frequently encounter in their regular operations.
Training Scenarios:
Throughout the event, participants will engage in a wide range of simulated emergencies, including but not limited to:
-Technical Rescue Scenarios: Complex extrications, confined space rescues, rope rescues, and high-angle operations.
-Structure Fires: Residential, commercial, and multi-story building fires that demand rapid and effective tactical decision-making.
-Vehicle Rescues: Extrication from crashed vehicles, involving both passenger cars and commercial vehicles.
-Medical Emergencies: Emergency medical response situations, including advanced trauma care and mass casualty incidents.
Objectives:
Skill Development & Repetitions: The program offers participants the opportunity to refine their skills through repetition in a variety of demanding scenarios.
Realistic Training Experience: Provides exposure to situations that are not part of daily calls, ensuring that responders are ready for any situation that may arise.
Team Coordination: Enhances communication and coordination among engine companies, rescue teams, and truck companies, fostering effective teamwork under pressure.
Stress Management & Endurance: Participants will be pushed to their physical and mental limits, simulating the sustained pressures of real-world emergencies.
Endurance & Performance Focus:
This marathon-style exercise will simulate a continuous onslaught of emergencies, forcing responders to maintain peak performance throughout. The training will be designed to reinforce critical thinking, adaptive problem-solving, and the ability to remain calm and efficient under stress.
Why "Endure24":
This event aims to push teams beyond their comfort zones and prepare them for unpredictable, high-stakes emergencies that require quick thinking, advanced skills, and collaborative problem-solving. By participating in this demanding exercise, responders will improve their readiness for any emergency, making them more capable of handling the complex and dynamic situations they may encounter in the field.
Apparatus Staffing Requirements:
Each apparatus will be staffed with a total of five (5) personnel, at the department’s discretion. You may assign some of those positions to individuals from outside your department. All participants must be covered under a department’s workers’ compensation insurance. At a minimum, participating members must have completed the Essentials of Firefighting course and be eligible to perform interior firefighting duties under their department’s SOPs.
For engine companies, the driver may be a “non-interior” member; however, the total crew size remains five (5) personnel. The crew and apparatus will be committed for approximately 28 to 30 hours.
Please take a moment (under five minutes) to complete the Endure24 interest form via the link below. More details about staffing and the training event will follow when the formal application becomes available. Thank you for your interest and for filling out the form.
