If you have a scholarship athlete that is your player, mentee, student, son, daughter or family member there is one important question that I beg you to ask:

What do you intend to major in?

PLEASE stop letting these athletic academic advisors guide student-athletes into terrible majors. This is happening far too much. A major should lead to a particular discipline or career that will earn them a respectable income. Don’t settle for just making it to college.

It hurts my heart when talented student-athletes leave this type of money on the table. Multiply each of these figures by 5. It’s a game changer but you have to know the rules to the game. 16 NCAA Core Classes (10 in 7). 2.3 Core GPA. A goal without a plan is simply a dream. 🎓💰

Ask them if your scholarship is still secure. Mention that you are aware of athletes losing their scholarships.”

If you have talented student-athletes that you love and want to see be successful, it is CRITICAL that they understand the NCAA Eligibility Rules before they begin the 9th Grade. Parents are letting their kids be assigned classes that sound and look good on paper but they are not NCAA-Approved Courses. This can prevent a kid from being able to accept a scholarship that they earn later down the road. It's a small fee to pay now. It's a great Christmas Present.
