🌟We are bursting with pride over the phenomenal achievements of our Design 2 Make a Difference (D2MD) Teams. These students built real-world solutions to support empathy, safety, and community care.

Here is a look at what they accomplished:
🎒 Elementary Team: Home on the Roam team built a specialized, waterproof backpack featuring a collapsing bed for individuals experiencing homelessness. Over the past year, these students worked incredibly hard mastering sewing and engineering collapsing PVC structures.

Their final, waterproof backpack design included:
• An integrated mattress and a pillow that can be stuffed with clothes 🛌
• Hot and cold food & medication storage pouches 🌡️
• A built-in first aid kit and a custom toiletries kit 🩹

🏆 Their Awards: 🥇Gold Medal - Impact /🥈Silver Medal - Ingenuity / 🥉Bronze Medal - Teamwork

🧩 Middle School Team: Forget Me Not
This team set out to gamify daily routines for individuals living with Dementia by creating a beautiful, interactive board. To make sure their design was truly impactful, they consulted with two medical doctors specializing in Alzheimer's and Dementia care. The students spent the year honing their woodworking abilities and developing advanced CAD skills to create 3D-printed and laser-cut interactive tiles.

🏆 Their Awards: 🥇Gold Medal - Best Overall Project! / 🥇Gold Medal - Teamwork / 🥈Silver Medal - Ingenuity

Both teams showed immense creativity, technical skill, and deep compassion for others. Thank you to our mentors, partners, and families who supported these students throughout the year.🎉

Last week, our 8th grade students took part in a special tradition by presenting their graduation medals to a staff member who made a meaningful impact on their journey at PCS. 💙

It was a heartfelt moment as students recognized the teachers and staff who encouraged, supported, and believed in them along the way.

We are so proud of our 8th graders and all they have accomplished. We wish them continued success, happiness, and confidence as they begin the next chapter of their educational journey!
