Hey there, Amazing Families and Awesome Teachers!

Let's give a big round of applause to our incredible CMU Music Preparatory School Students who've been rocking this semester like pros! ๐ŸŽธ๐ŸŽน๐Ÿฅ

First off, let's shout out to the sensational Julian Parker, student of the amazing Hyun Ju Curtin, for securing a spot in CAPA's piano program as a 7th grader! Way to go, Julian! ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽน

And how about a standing ovation for the sensational Emili Stahovic, under the tutelage of the phenomenal Satoko Hoppo, for clinching the Second Place spot in the American Protรฉgรฉ International Piano & Strings Competition 2024's Junior Category! Bravo, Emili! ๐Ÿ†๐ŸŽป

Last but certainly not least, let's blast the trumpets for the outstanding Prakhar Kiran, student of the marvelous Luz Manriquez, and the fantastic Anthony Yu, under the guidance of the magnificent William Davidson, for snagging the top spots in the PCS 2024 Young Artists Competition! Let's show our support by attending Prakhar's winning performance this Sunday, April 7th, at 2pm in Kresge, and Anthony's stellar showcase on Sunday, April 21st, also in Kresge. This Weekend!!! Guest Masterclass with Rishi Mirchandani! This is a free event on Sunday, March 3rd at 6:00pm.
Rishi Mirchandani is an Indian-American pianist based in New York City. At age 18, he debuted with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra after amassing six first-prize awards in major national and international competitions for young artists.
Mirchandani maintains an active and varied career as a soloist, chamber musician, and lied pianist, having appeared at major venues across the U.S., Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Germany. This past season saw invitations to perform at Carnegie Hall, the Bohemian National Hall, the German Consulate of the United Nations, and others. Mirchandani's 2014 recording of Nancy Galbraith's Three Preludes for Piano was featured on the acclaimed Centaur Records. album Strange Travels, which garnered a spot on the "Want List" in Fanfare Magazine.
He has participated in masterclasses with a number of illustrious pianists, among them Richard Goode, Boris Berman, Lang Lang, Eldar Nebolsin, Wei-Yi Yang, and Ian Jones. He has also received guidance from Robert McDonald and Paul Schenly.
Mirchandani is a native of Pittsburgh. He studied with Luz Manrรญquez at the Carnegie Mellon Preparatory School of Music, which he attended from 2001 to 2015. In 2019, he graduated summa cm laude from Yale University with a bachelor's degree in mathematics. He earned Distinction in Mathematics and was one of twelve students from his class (top 1%) elected to Phi Beta Kappa as a junior. While pursuing his mathematics studies, he also studied piano with Elizabeth Parisot and founded the Yale Undergraduate Piano Collective.
Mirchandani completed his master's degree at the Manhattan School of Music, where he received the President's Award. He was a pupil of Jeffrey Cohen and Solomon Mikowsky. In 2023, he completed his Professional Studies Diploma at the Mannes School of Music, where he studied with Thomas Sauer and won the coveted Steinway Award.
