One thing I watch for in class is the pause.

When a student hesitates, guesses, or spends too long on one question, that tells us something useful.

Maybe the student missed what the question was asking.
Maybe they knew the concept and chose an inefficient route.
Maybe they needed a pacing rule for when to move on and come back.

That is where in-person instruction helps. I can help students see what happened and give them a specific way to handle it next time.

ACT English punctuation questions often come down to sentence structure.

A lot of punctuation questions come down to one practical habit: find the complete sentence first.

Before choosing a comma, ask:

1. What is the subject?
2. What is the verb?
3. Does the sentence still work if I remove the extra phrase?
4. Are there two complete sentences being joined?

That process helps students stop guessing based on what "sounds right" and start checking how the sentence is built.
