A big THANK YOU to everyone who attended the CWA Annual Golf Tournament in Pinehurst. We had a great turn-out and the weather was picture perfect. A special thanks our sponsors who made the event possible and to all the volunteers who helped the event run smoothly.

We are thrilled to announce that we raised $35,000 for our Charity Partner, Victory Junction! Thank you to all who purchased 50/50 tickets, mulligans and for donating to the Long Drive professionals! We could not support this wonderful organization without your incredible generosity! A very special thanks to Jason Smith, the winner of the 50/50 raffle, for donating his prize money back to Victory Junction.

We look forward to seeing you all at the 3Q event (details to follow) but be sure to SAVE-THE-DATE for our Annual Holiday Social at the Angus Barn in Raleigh on December 9th!

Dear Members,

Happy New Year! I am glad we have 2020 behind us and am looking forward to seeing you all in person in 2021. Yes, I fully expect we will gather face to face at some point this year. I do have a few things to share as follows:

BOARD MEMBERS
Mitzi Parker decided to step back from the Board of Directors at the end of 2020. Her contributions to our association cannot be overstated. She successfully ran the Annual Golf Tournament at Pinehurst for 9 years and as a result, helped raise $184,500 for our Charity Partner, Victory Junction. She also was instrumental in pulling off all of our other events, including the Holiday Social every year, again enabling us to contribute thousands of toys/gift cards to Toys-for-Tots. She will be missed and we wish her the best.

The remaining Board Members have committed to serving another year. The current slate is below.

Member at Large – Joe Everett

At this time, we are looking for people who want to get involved in the association. As an all-volunteer organization, we are continually need help with various initiatives and now that Mitzi is no longer with the Board, we definitely need extra volunteers for the Tournament. EVENTS
Annual Golf Tournament in Pinehurst
Ashley, John and I are meeting with the team at Pinehurst on March 2nd to determine when to host the tournament. We want to choose a date that will enable us to enjoy the Networking Social the evening before and the Awards Dinner after golf without restriction. Our hope is to have the tournament in May so stay tuned for more information.

Annual Holiday Social at the Angus Barn
We have reserved Thursday, December 9, 2021 for our Annual Holiday Social. This event will benefit our Charity Partner, Toys-for-Tots. More details to follow!

Dear Members,
Unprecedented, emotionally draining, scary, sad, or in other words Wow! What a long, strange year is has been. We hope that everyone is healthy and continues to stay that way now that round two of the pandemic seems to be upon us.

Though we were unable to meet in person this year, we were constantly thinking of ways to help our members during such an unstable time. One of our initiatives was the creation of the Job Board and we are pleased that it has been so active. Therefore, this will remain on the website for the foreseeable future. Also be sure to check other association websites for job boards as our idea was emulated throughout the country. Please contact Ashley Jackson to add information to the Job Board. Our hope is to continue to connect employers and seekers as long as needed.
With all the continued uncertainty relating to COVID we are not going to host the Annual Holiday Social at The Angus Barn this year. While we are disappointed, we are confident it is the right decision. However, we have already locked down a date for 2021, as we have for the 15th Annual Charity Golf Tournament in Pinehurst. Will we be able to gather before then….we are not sure but know we are doing our best to find a way!

Dear Members:

First and foremost, I hope everyone is safe and healthy during this challenging and stressful time. A global pandemic is not something I ever thought would be the focus of our lives, and yet, here we are. As an association, some of our plans have changed and may change again, but I will keep you informed every step of the way until we can meet face-to-face, which I hope will be soon.

You all should have received the eBlast reminder about the CWA Job Board, available on the website. The intent of the Job Board is to connect those hiring with those seeking since many people have been displaced as a result of the pandemic. The CWA was the first to offer this to its membership and many others have now followed suit. I urge you all to take a look at the Job Board and post any openings available in your organization as well as view the information of those seeking employment. If we all stay committed to helping each other, this can work!

Once I realized the social distancing mandates, in North Carolina and beyond, were going to stay in place for quite a while, the Board and I had to make the difficult decision to postpone our 15th Annual Charity Golf Tournament in Pinehurst until May 2021. This was not a decision we wanted to make, and we thoughtfully considered every available option before ultimately deciding to postpone for an entire year. Just know that when we do meet in Pinehurst, it will be the biggest and best tournament we have ever hosted so you will not want to miss out.

The September Educational Event on September 17 at the Ballantyne Hotel in Charlotte is still on! Details to follow shortly so be on the lookout. If you are not receiving our eBlasts and wish to get on the distribution list, simply join the association via the Membership tab on the website. There is no cost to join!

Again, I hope you all are doing well and I look forward to seeing you in September, if not before. Stay safe.

POSTPONED!
15th Annual Charity Golf Event & Networking Social

Dear Members:

The Board of Directors of the Carolinas Wireless Association has voted to postpone the 15th Annual Charity Golf Tournament & Networking Social, originally planned on May 13th & 14th at the Pinehurst Resort to May 2021. This is to ensure the safety of our members and colleagues as we do not want to put anyone at risk by hosting a large gathering.

Please know we did not make this decision lightly and explored all options before deciding to postpone. Given the current situation with the virus and the economic implications, we felt it best to move the event to 2021 to allow the country to recover in both aspects.

While this decision is extremely disappointing for us, it is more so for our Charity Partner, Victory Junction, who has directly benefited from the tournament proceeds for several years. In an effort to assist them in some meaningful way during this uncertain time, we ask you consider making a donation to them directly via their website at https://victoryjunction.org/the-gift-of-camp/. Please make sure to note the CWA in the message section so they know our support continues with or without the tournament. You can read all about the great experiences Victory Junction provides to children with serious illnesses via their website as well.
