We The People of Appalachia

Pikeville City Commission meets tonight at 6PM at City Hall (assuming they are meeting on their typical schedule).

(So they won’t mind if we crank up coal-fired power plants and steel mills?)

‼️THIS IS A SLAP IN THE FACE TO EVERY COAL MINER and coal company across the country.

The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) practically moved into coal-producing regions of the US and fined coal producers for as much as blinking until they drove every coal business and every coal miner into the ground --but no oversight for data centers?

(P.S. and by the way: just like your Public Service Commission that oversees AEP and utility rates-- no one in the EPA *or* the Public Service Commission is *elected*... but I digress...)

Our government allowed coal-fired power plants to be dismantled and told us to like it or lump it. They forced the trucking industry to spend untold billions on rebuilding engines, DEF systems, "diesel particulate filters" and emission mandates, and made refiners and fuel distributors upgrade equipment to accommodate a "cleaner" diesel fuel ... but no oversight for data centers?

We the People of Appalachia is officially taking a HARD-NO STAND against data centers based on this one act of the EPA and our federal government.

Our government -- the people we *ELECT* to work for us -- should NOT be picking the winners and losers. THAT IS NOT THEIR JOB. The People's livelihoods and prosperity is their job.

Here's the hard reality that our own government is forcing us to realize:

They do not care if we prosper. They do not want to hear our opinions. They do not care if we disagree with their Grand Plans that, so far, have only enriched a small group of people we can't name and driven us, Main Street America, into poverty.

They do not care if we have necessities like clean water, affordable power, ambulance service, jobs, affordable health insurance, or affordable [ANY KIND] of insurance.

The very people we ELECT pass laws that prevent YOU AND I from suing pharmaceutical companies and chemical companies when the products they make damage our bodies or cause death. Are YOU immune from lawsuits? Is your small business shielded from lawsuits? Exactly.

They send our jobs overseas, along with every last piece of our intellectual property--the ideas and plans and roadmaps that detail every tiny detail of how to create a specific product or item, anytime an American mind creates something new. For example, the Chinese steal our intellectual property every day and make their own version of a 'Spalding' basketball (or whatever) and sell it on Amazon for half the price. Whereas, if we made those basketballs here in America, we'd have both jobs and our IP... but no--that approach would allow Main Street Americans to prosper rather than that group of elites who get rich off of "globalization."

Our own government prevented us from attending church during C*vid by show of police presence and threat of arrest, while allowing "peaceful protestors" to walk the streets without masks, and allowing liquor stores to remain open.

Our food is bathed in chemicals, but our elected officials don't prevent it. They are not protecting the food our families eat or the farmers who produce it. They allow foreign companies to own our farmland, our beef industry, and agricultural products like fertilizer. The monopoly on fertilizer alone has our farmers in a stranglehold.

We make nothing. Not even our own antibiotics. Let that sink in.

We the People of Appalachia tries hard to stay open-minded, but this bizarre and blatant act of our federal government PICKING AND CHOOSING the WINNERS AND LOSERS is egregious.

It is a SLAP IN THE FACE TO EVERY COAL MINER and EVERY COAL-RELATED FAMILY in eastern Kentucky and the country.

So here is your daily reminder: You are an AMERICAN CITIZEN. Your voice is more powerful than any elected official, any political entity, or any organization of any kind. This country belongs to *you*, not UNELECTED bureaucrats sitting in Washington, DC.

‼️THERE. IS. NO. MONEY. Why do we re-elect the same people over and over? Washington simply prints money (literally) when they need it, sinking us deeper and deeper into a debt we will NEVER be able to repay--yet they want to give grants and subsidies and loans (all of which is TAXPAYER MONEY) to AI startups and data centers. WHERE IS THAT MONEY COMING FROM? This DEBT BALLOON is going to bust wide open - starting with Social Security and Medicaid, and when it does, where will we be? Where will working class America be? We will be AT THE MERCY OF THE GOVERNMENT. 💯 Why do we re-elect the same people over and over? Why?? ... Everybody in the country screams "vote them out!" "vote them out!" and then runs straight to the polls and votes for the same people who have been in office for decades. REMINDER: Your voice and your vote is MORE POWERFUL than any politician, any political entity any executive or any *anybody*-- but not if you don't USE IT. You are an AMERICAN CITIZEN. Use your voice, start showing up at meetings and VOTE. ✌🇺🇸

What happens to giant data center buildings when the technology inside is obsolete?

‼️DAILY REMINDER: Your voice is more powerful than any politician, any executive, any organization or any branch of government. When The People stand up and speak out, the government bends. It has to. It's the way our government was designed. When we do nothing, when we say nothing, our government does what it wants. It ignores our needs and prioritizes its own. Remember your heritage. Remember that you are a Citizen of the United States of America. You have an INCREDIBLE amount of power in this country-- jaw-dropping power that does not require riots or burning buildings or fighting. You SIMPLY HAVE TO SHOW UP and make your opinions known. ✌😍🇺🇸

‼️ OKAY—WHAT?! —City of Pikeville is considering DATA CENTER.

Do our elected officials think The People want data centers and landfills?? … What made them think that we do?? … To clarify: we do NOT want data centers! All we want are the COAL-FIRED POWER PLANTS that will provide power to these “community killers.” Why are data centers and landfills even being discussed??

First it was a landfill in the County; now it’s a data center in Pikeville.

ATTENTION RESIDENTS: the ONLY thing that will stop EITHER of these things is YOU—THE PEOPLE.
