Highlighting our second recipient of The Reginald “Reggie” Jackson Jr Scholarship, Samantha C.

In her own words:

“My interest in health and wellness began through sports, but it deepened after I experienced my physical setbacks. Dealing with injuries while still wanting to stay active was tough, and it changed my perspective as well as challenged me both totally and emotionally. However, it also emphasized the importance of proper recovery. The values of supportive care, and how deeply connected our physical health is to our overall well-being. I started asking questions– not just about how to heal faster but how to prevent injuries, stay mentally strong, and take care of the body. This curiosity soon turned into a passion.

Health and wellness have shaped my belief that everybody deserves care, support, and knowledge about their bodies. It happens too often that communities, especially black and brown communities, don’t have the resources or education needed to take control of their health. I want to be a part of the solution. I believe that meeting people where they are, listening to their stories, and being someone they can trust during their recovery and growth is important. That’s why I want to become an athletic trainer– not just to help athletes, but to build a healthier and stronger community”.

Samantha continues to give back to her community, mentoring the youth. After college, she plans to work with professionals, schools, youth programs, and communities where she can bring her skills to those who need them most. She wants to promote injury prevention, offer wellness shops, and eventually build an Empire where physical training and mental health support are combined to help our younger generations.

We’re so proud of Samantha and know, like Reggie, she will continue to uplift others with her gifts!

As we gear up for our 2026 applications, I wanted to take the time to highlight one of our 2025 recipients of The Reginald “Reggie” Jackson Jr scholarship, A’sma’ T. A’sma’ knew from a young age that she wanted to become a doctor. After witnessing her mother go through something life changing, she soon realized “medical professionals were not only life savers-they were healers”.

She also developed a passion for the power of data in medicine. A’sma’ plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics with the end goal of attending medical school, specializing in obstetrics and gynecology. With a strong foundation in bioinformatics, she hopes to contribute to research in maternal-fetal medicine, using data-driven approaches to improve outcomes for mothers and babies.

We have no doubt A’sma’ will achieve her dreams and more! Thank you to friends, family and community who make this possible!

If you’re interested in donating to Reggie’s scholarship, please visit the link in our bio. Donations are 100% Tax Deductible and 100% goes to the recipient.
