Hello Kennedy Families!
Today, all 2nd grade students received a Summer Reading Pack to support reading and learning throughout the summer as they prepare for 3rd grade.
Inside your child’s MyBook Summer Reading Pack, you will find engaging books, fun activity sheets connected to each story, and a summer reading journal.
We encourage students to complete the comprehension questions and activity pages included in the packet. Students who turn in their completed comprehension questions during the first week of school will receive a special prize!
These books are a gift for your family to enjoy again and again. Thank you for supporting literacy at home, and we hope you have a wonderful, safe, and relaxing summer.
Happy reading, Kennedy Colts!

Today was a pretty magical day for our students ❄️✨
They got to experience a live performance of Frances Smith Cohen’s Snow Queen thanks to our friends at the Herberger Theatre—and they were completely captivated. Even better, they had the chance to meet and interact with some of the dancers, which made the whole experience feel even more special.
Opportunities like this don’t come around every day, and it’s safe to say this is one they won’t forget anytime soon 🎭

Free bilingual 8 week reading program for families with children 0-5 years old at John F. Kennedy Family Center. 1st class starts on February 12th from 8:30-9:30am. You will have a specialized teacher that will provide 12 books, make and take crafts, music and movement and healthy snacks.
Decades of research show that children learn best when their families are active partners. Reading routines strengthen parent–child bonds, build language, and support emotional well-being. 90% of the brain develops before age 5.
The brain is most flexible and adaptable to learning during the earliest years.
