We did it! First time presenting IN PERSON for over 2 years! The start to this years NASAI conference has been great! Love the energy and opportunity to meet and network with other native and indigenous educators.

Meet Hui Hoʻomaka Hou! "Māʻele, Micah, and Partner are the members of Hui Hoʻomaka Hou. Translated into English it means, “New Beginnings.” The reason they chose this name is because all of them are starting a new beginning by attending college. While attending college and working for the Kapoʻoloku Program they have grown into young adults who not only thrive in their academic journey, but also accepted the kuleana to serve their lāhui. ʻHe pūkoʻa kani ʻāinaʻ A coral reef that grows into an island. A person beginning in a small way gains steadily until he becomes firmly established."

Meet our Peer Mentor and Alaka'i, Ma'ele! “Aloha, ʻO wau ʻo Maʻele. I am the alakaʻi for hui Hoʻomaka Hou. I've been with the Kapoʻoloku Program since 2014. I graduated from KCC with my AA in Hawaiian Studies and Liberal Arts. I graduate this May from UH Mānoa with my Bachelor of Arts in Hawaiian Studies. My life goal is to help our Native Hawaiian communities in any way I can.”
