Students spent last week learning about Passover by reading “Where is the Afikomen?,” “My First Seder,” and “A Seder for Grover;” singing and dancing to “Dayenu” and “Frogs Here, Frogs There, Frogs Everywhere;” and decorating Seder plates and Elijah’s cup for their own celebrations.

The highlight of Passover prep was making our classic DIY brick oven out of mud and water on the playground to cook matzah in!

Yesterday they celebrated with a Passover-themed activities where they joined Moses and sang to Pharaoh asking to be freed, brought the ten plague upon him until he said “go!” and split the Red Sea to flee Egypt 🌊

Tuesdays are for soccer, thanks to our friends at Soccer Shots Phoenix! The 2s and 3s have been learning how to pass and trap the ball, and then 4s and 5s have been learning special moves like scissors, step overs, and step fakes ⚽

Looks like we have some future professional players on our hands!

Every first Friday of the month, students join Beth El Phoenix Cantor Bollt in the Chapel for an all-school Shabbat morning filled with LOTS of singing and dancing. After celebrating Purim all week, students were ready to dance the morning away!

🚙🚌🚊 It’s been a busy few weeks learning about community helpers and transportation! 🚲 🛴🛵

Students in all classes talked and read books about different kinds of jobs people do to help others, like doctors 🧑‍⚕️, firefighters 🧑‍🚒, police officers 👮, mail carriers 📬, mechanics 🛠️, and more.

They also had career and transportation-themed activities like games of “Red Light, Green Light!”, making stoplights 🚦, painting and putting out “fires” on their easels 🔥, and painting with toothbrushes and “toothpaste” 🪥

To celebrate everything we learned and see community helpers in action, students participated in a Bike Rally, racing around the parking lot on bikes and scooters of all kinds, stopping by the mechanic when they needed a tune-up and finishing up at the car wash to make sure their wheels were shining.

We even had some surprise community helpers come by to talk more about their roles in the community and show the students some of their day-to-day work firsthand. Thank you so much to our friends from the Phoenix Fire Department, the Phoenix Police Department, and Valley Metro for making the morning extra special!
